I think I know why you are wondering about slang. You want to understand what is being said, that is normal. I try not to be too attracted to slang though you know fully well you will be using it without thinking too much about it. I’m a Canadian, not an American though we share quite a bit of history we have more British in our words and of course French also known as francophones who speak french but sound like this.... “Me, there, I go now to the gaz station,” stuff like that....if they attempt to do the englash. Our slang is somewhat different than the Americans. You might for example, find a "Newfie" sayin’ “boy” at the end of the sentence but it has no racial meaning just the way they talk. I personaly use the eh pronounced A at the end sometimes. Just a habit. Slang stuff, a chesterfield is a “couch”, “a loony” or “a buck” is a dollar, we eat beaver tails when out skating but if a male starts talking about your beaver or box you will find they are talking about female body parts, to step in a puddle or snow over your boot is called a “soaker”, if you want to order a pizza with everything on it just say “all dressed”, to be cheated by a incorrect money exchange is said “to be ripped off”. I guess it is kind of funny those slang terms, eh?

I know what you mean exactly. What you need is someone you can trust and not have to think someone is fooling you. Sure I don't mind answering questions if I know what it means and you think you have one that is baffling you. Don't be shy, I will make this agreement with you. If I know what something means I will explain it clearly and if I joke around (friends do this to be silly) I will always tell you true what the joke was because this is what friends do right. Ok? I know what you mean too regarding inappropriate, what is good maybe if there is something we don't think we like to respond back with a slang name and that makes them think they better watch how they talk to us? - like, "yeah, right, hoser!" ;-)

Hello Bluedoll :). You know what ? Your comment makes me more curious about the slang. Oh I can't help reading more about the slang. I wish you would make some list for me lol. It is really interesting, well because it is not my native language. I always am on on facebook. I have lots western friends, sometime they use the slang that confused me. I am shy when I ask them and the meaning was rather innapropriate. So sometime I am doubt to ask because I am afraid if they'll fool me :D Yeah yeah it's really funny. I sometime watch on Youtube to distinguish American slang and British slang. So far I enjoy it. I'll find out more.

Talking to some friends from the USA or U.K on Facebook, always use English on your social network, read some thick English novels, watch lots movies ect. Hahahah, there are many ways to learn, but practice is the most important thing to do. School doesn't help that much lol.

I'm a bit late on the welcoming, but I still want to welcome you to Mylot community. Anyway, I see that you meant SLANG. I'm not that good at it, but I believe that it would be better to learn the language fluently first and then eventually learn slang in the process. I know, for a fact that reading books and watching movies helped me, so I believe that it could help you as well. It will not be easy but if you enjoy what you are doing, I think it will not be difficult either. Good luck n your endeavor and I hope to be hearing more from you here.

Hello choybel. It's okay :) thank you. Yes, I love reading books and watching movies very much, I watch about five movies in a week :D see, I am addicted with western movies. Most of the movies use informal language and slang, that's why I am curious. Especially to distinguish American slang and British slang :D. They are badass. I've read some Classic novels too and they do me good :)) Thank you Choybel :))

slang language is very useful when we have communication in English especially among youngsters, sometimes, when we speak we don't care much in the grammar as long as we understand each other, that will be enough. But, then, understanding the right and appropriate English is more important than just practicing slang language. So that, I keep on studying English...

Hi supersliz :) Yes I know, that's why I am so curious. Besides, lots of my friends are teenagers (cz I am a teenager too) and I need to learn more so that I can understand them. But I like to use the right grammar as long as I can because it will be a good habit :). So do I, I keep on studying English :) Happy mylotting.
