I did write about be poo-poo'd bout my bells. But I thought I should also mention the customer who thanked me for being at work on Christmas Eve so he could get alast minute gift or two. I was really quite surprised. Many often say an expression of the holiday as they leave along with something like they hope we can get out of there timely to be with family and friends.

Then a person could make out quite well if you wanted to work it. I wish I would of gotten something extra for the holiday like that indeed!

You know, I really feel for those people that have to work on Christmas Eve and also on Christmas Day because I've been there when I was working at the hospital. However, you are right that the majority of people don't think to thank those people for working on those days. However, everyone that is working should be thanked because of the fact that we are making a sacrifice of time with our family to work on those days when we should be spending time with our family.

I don't think people in the service industry are thanked enough for what they do for little pay and sometimes the sacrafice of family time.

It really does make your day! The sad thing is there are never enough compliments usually gripes about one thing or another.

Customer service jobs are not always all fun and games because most customers focus on what was done wrong, not what was done right. So that was super nice that you got a thank you for working to make it more convenient for him...and other last minute shoppers. When I worked in a restaurant and retail, we were open Christmas Eve and I worked. It amazes me, if for example the store hours are 8-6, people will come in at 5:55 and be demanding and have high expectations for being procastinators. I value family time, especially on Holidays, so THANK YOU for having great spirit and wearing your Santa hat to work and for sacrificing your family time for those last minute shoppers.

Indeed many have alot of expectations during Christmas shopping. There are so many that come in and wonder why there isn't more selection/sizes left. The worst I think were unauthorized users on credit cards were not happy with me. Like any other employee you know you are scheduled you have to work, you don't work you don't eat KWIM? But I was hoping to have the energy and time to bake some cookies or something crafty.... oh well there are other holidays.

It is an honor to be able to work or give service on Christmas. They were happy to serve them who celebrate Christmas eve. I am working during Christmas holiday and am proud that I don't have to be off duty when my company needs people to work for. I knew the owner feel deep gratitude to have their work when they should supposed to be on holiday.

I don't know about any deep gratitude by the employer for us working, unless you count free lunch for the day which is nice. But still doesn't make up for time lost with my kids.

There are really people who rushed to malls to buy Christmas gift on a last minute. I am one of them, it is because of hectic schedule and the budget itself. Nowadays, it's hard to just buy and buy whatever you feel good for yourself. Me, in my case, I really want to scrutinize issues about the needs and wants. My priorities are the needs because it is more important. So, when a last minute shopper came across to a person like you, you should be given a big thank you. You made us happy. :)

I tried to be cheerful of the situation and looked at it from a different persepective than you that I need to work and by working I was taking care of my family by being there for the last minute shoppers.

I was just surprised he said something. You know we are so used to stores being open every day all day and he was thankful for that. What if stores weren't open on Sundays anymore or had shorter business hours like years ago?

it is a great service to others by being open for service even on Christmas eve. some people need to purchase something at the last minute. well, wehn they say thank you aside from the usual merry Christmas greeting, they really mean it. i appreciate those people who report to work on the Christmas eve. that's work, and it means more for the customers.

Grocery stores here were long closed or not open at all by the time I left. Not much to spare for non-essential shopping.
