Manchester United is back on joint-top with Manchester City by beating Wigan 5-0. It was a good result but the performance was not that good considering Wigan played most of the match with only 10 men. In fact if Wigan took their chances well, they would have scored.
Manchester United is always doing well in December and January. Their next 2 matches against Blackburn(H) and Newcastle(A)may be enough for them to claim back the sole right on the top as Manchester City may drop points against a rejuvenated Sunderland(A)and Liverpool(H).
What do you think?

I feel that Manchester United didn't play to the best of their capabilities against Wigan. They made many mistakes and missed many chances. The rotation of the players might have been a factor but it shouldn't be so. A top team must play consistently well regardless of the occasions and opponents. It is the manager's responsibility to select and to recruit his players. With the status of Manchester United, money shouldn't be a problem. Sir Alex has done his job wisely but there were times Manchester United played badly especially in this year's Champions League games.

I too think that Manchester United will never give up their EPL championship . They are very near to get on the top of the table. 5 goal different separates these two teams. I hope Manchester United can be on the top after a couple of matches .

Manchester United will try to win every match they play even in friendlies. I have been a Manchester United fan since the year where they lost to Arsenal 2-3 in the FA Cup final. Since then there has been a lot of ups and downs but I enjoyed their football most of the time. Do you notice how eager and aggressive they are when Manchester United lose the ball to the opposition? They will all try to close down and pressure continuously even over a long distance. Sometimes you can see 2-3 MU players encircling trying to win back the ball. That is the way I like, especially the never give up attitude. That is the reason MU scored a lot of last minute goals.

Why do you think that this is not Manchester City's year? With so many veteran and established players that they have got, and from what they have achieved so far since the start of the season, they don't show that they don't know how to win. In fact they even beat Manchester United at Old Trafford by extraordinary huge margins.
Manchester City is not an up and coming team with young players. They are best of the best and if they don't win, it is because the other team play better than them. They can't say they are lack of experience, skill and temperament.

This result sets up the title chase superbly. With both the Manchester clubs with identical win-loss ratios and scores it is intriguingly poised. BTW, Spurs are no way out of the chase just yet. It is going to be a race to the wire.
Cheers!

Manchester City is in the number 1 position of the EPL now so they really are playing well. Whether at the end of the race they will still be there or not, we are still to see. But there is a very high possibility that after the next 2 matches Manchester United will take over the top.

With 4 points leading and the likelihood of Manchester City of dropping points against Chelsea on Wednesday, the road ahead is indeed bright for Manchester United. It is all going well for Manchester United except the elimination from Europe. It hurts not being in Europe. As a fan, I hope Sir Alex could play his best team in Europe next season at all times.

They dominate the premier league and I think city should show its potential to win premier division. City has a strong team which could dominate the league in the long run.

Manchester City is dominating the Premier League now but they may have problems to take maximum points in their next 2 matches, and may lose the lead on the table if Manchester United wins all theirs. With the kind of investment and the players that they have bought, Manchester City is EXPECTED to win.

Sir Alex is great as a football manager. Since he has built many successive successful teams, there must be something that every other up and coming football managers can learn. Personally I only care about how the team play and the result they achieve. I don't care about their personality and behavior as long as it doesn't affect their football. I can like a footballer for his football but not as a person. There are some footballers who are really scums if you know their personality.

There is no doubt that life style can be a factor in performance. If someone is clubbing until 3am in the morning knowing that there is a game to play in the afternoon, that is unprofessional and discipline action has to be taken against him. Sir Alex is famous with his dislike of his players who always on the headline with non-footballing reasons. The Beckham hairstyle case was one that might have been the trigger for his eventual sale to Real Madrid.

The season is entering a crucial stages whereby the games will come thick and fast. While there are still many more games to the end of the season, the performance during this period will have a big say in the destination of the title. So round 1 to Man Utd. Lets see how they do in the next two games.

Indeed this is the crucial stage of the season with those hectic schedule of games. Any team that can make a headway now will have an advantage that may be too hard to bridge for other teams. There is a big possibility that we are going to see a 2 horse race side by side until the month of May.
