Hmm, I guess buying online is cheaper as there's discounts, coupons and deals... I think most people treat Christmas as a season of "Giving (or was it 'Gift-ing'?)" so most people would have to prepare presents... hence, the increase in purchases during Christmas.
Shops (Online) would give discounts to entice people to buy during Christmas. Offline shops may also give discounts but if you want to compare pricing, I think online shopping is cheaper and more convenient. There's wider variety of items available online. In addition, For someone like me, I would like to get something that's not commonly seen on the streets as a gift for my friends (I think this is pretty cool.).
This is where online shopping comes in.

Hi,friend, i think not only in American, but also in other countries, including China, more and more people buy things from online.
The first reason, i think is the price competitive edge of online goods. Since selling goods can save lots of costs, therefore, they can set the price much lower than the prices of the same goods in the shopping mall.
The second reason for people go to online to shopping, i think, is there are more choices online, and you can easily search and find them, and you can also know how others say about the goods.

One reason may be because being the end of the year they get a chance to finish all their stocks and bring in new stocks for the new year. And since it is the festival season with people shopping anyway if they give discounts people will end up buying more than they need to and thus help the Companies finish off their stocks.

Shopping online, is a practical way of shopping. Because, we do not need to leave home to shop. In addition, if we are going to buy a gift, for families who live in another city, we can directly send to our families. No we had to take pains, wrap, and send. Nowadays everyone likes something practical.

On line shopping is a kind shopping which make us easier in buying all of our needs without going anywhere. It spend little time and energy. I sometime also do online shopping, it often give the better products in lower price, hahahaha, but if you are unlucky you'll get unexpected things cos we can't see the real material of the product. No matter what is the weakness of online shopping I still enjoy to do it.

I suppose much of it isdue to the climate. If you live in the Northern United States, it is hard to get out in blizzardly conditions. I live in Canada in the prairies and with the streets being slippery I was considering doing much of my shopping online until the weather got better. This is somthng that people in tropical or semi tropical countries do not understand.

It seems that in many items online shopping is less expensive. This is specially good in the US, because the shipping costs are not so big. This happens the year around, but in Christmas people get mad shopping. Christmas time has turned from a Holiday of love into a shopping spree. It is part of our new society.

I actually do not like to shop online . . . I LOVE physically going out to stores to shop. I don't like looking at a screen - I'd rather see and feel the product I want to potentially buy. Plus I am great at hunting for bargains - I'm almost positive I can get a better deal going to regular stores (for what I buy). But that is me. I have tons of friends who do not like to bother going out - especially for holiday shopping - so online shopping is the way to go for them. It's all for convenience - do it from home at your own time - no hassles to deal with for the most part. Me - I like to think of shopping at a "real" store as an adventure!

HI adhyz: I don't consider myself a big fan of online shopping but I buy things online once in a while and I feel pretty satisfied with the business. I think that people these days are getting really busy so buying the things they need to for example the gifts is a really big help and here is the reason why online sells increase on Christmas.

No crowds, that is the biggest reason. There can be times where the store is an absolute madhouse during the Christmas season. There are going to really be people who if they did in fact have manners, they most certainly did left them alone. At one time years ago, I threw my hands up and went, that's it, no more shopping at the store, going online.
Online shopping is rather great in the sense as you know what is in stock as you shop and don't have to burn through gas and waste time going to a place where it might not have what I have. I am sure that I am not really alone in this belief. That is really why I am going to really shop online. That is just all that there is in fact to it for me and others.

It's convenient and it's not crowded at all. Unlike being in the shopping malls, there are queues everywhere, people fighting, arguing or even snatching things they set their sight on. By shopping online, we save ourselves the hassle of many things. While it's convenient to shop online, but we have to set aside time for things to be delivered, as well as prepare ourselves for unexpected turn of events. Given a choice, i would choose physical shopping, at least i know my stuffs are safe in my hands.

Online shopping increases on Christmas, because the people don't have to line up in malls, just to be able to pay what they chose. And they can order online even at the most unholiest hour.

Shopping online is probably the best way to shop. Who really wants to deal with all those crowds at the stores around the holidays. I know there are some items that you would like to see in person and buy. But for the most part, online shopping it the thing of the future. These days, online shopping is a needed thing. It is also a major convenience.

speaking of online shopping then Ebay is the first to come on my mind,
but i have a problem regarding shopping online is the extra amount paid for shipping and some risk too....
and if the product having a slight defect, it can't replace as quick as possible, need to wait for a number of days of even more on it.
