Just watched in the news that there was a flood in Bukidnon just yesterday. It's just scary, all the floods going on in our country. It just reminds me of that 2012 so-called predictions, and also the movie 2012. There are people who barely recovered yet and another disaster struck again. I just hope and pray that this new year may our country and all of us be prepared for whatever is in store for us. May we become stronger in our faith in our God.
Happy new year, everybody

I'm sorry because the sad events in your country. I hope your folks are getting the necessary aid. Lately there are many catastrophes on the earth. Now we have to be more solidary to each other in the world. God bless your country and happy new year too, despite disasters.

Thanks, Rick. It was really a tragic moment for those affected. They are getting the necessary help but I think it was not enough so they need to persevere and be patient because I'm sure more help will come to them.
May the rest of this year be a wonderful year for all of us :)

I'm very sorry to see these catastrophes seemingly relentlessly batter your part of the world. I don't believe it's got anything to do with 2012 or predictions about it; rather, it's more likely due to changing weather patterns all over the globe.
Regarding prayer, wouldn't it be better if people prayed to be SPARED these calamities first, instead of asking God to make you strong in faith through them? Besides, how much help will the people get from the government/charities whenever these floods come?

It is more because of the logging activities by inconsiderate, irresponsible, and selfish people which had caused the floods. So many people were killed at an unexpected time. Praying for people to be spared during calamities will always be a part of our prayer. I just meant that even if tragedies struck us, I hope that we will not blame God but rather become more stronger through them. The victims are getting help (which I hope would be enough) - foods, shelter, water, clothes, etc. - not from the government and organizations only but from other kind-hearted individuals also.
Thanks for the response, Icorner.

hi neelia_lyn,
It is not new to us whenever we hear floods devastating certain places here in the Philippines. I think, this happen because of our own doing. God is good and He doesn't want this to happen. However, we keep on abusing what He is giving to us. We don't have discipline. Just take for example the trees on the mountain. If we have discipline in ourselves and really have concern for people, then we should be aware that once we cut trees on mountains and do not replace it with new ones, it will surely bring negative effects. Now, after what happened to the city of Cagayan and Iligan, people keeps pointing fingers to one another. In my opinion, I think that even how many calamities destroyed our country,if people will keep on doing what they are always doing, nothing good will happen because people are not learning from the history. We will always experience such floods and landslides and I do not doubt that predictions on 2012 can be possible because of lack of discipline and greedy intentions.

Yes, thank you for the nice response. It's true that many people have abused the environment and haven't been good stewards of the things God has given us to use. It's a lesson learned the hard way - if they have learned a lesson at all. It's so sad that many people have suffered because of that.
God bless!

Yes, it's indeed scary that floods keep coming to all our places. But it's indeed devastating for those heavily affected by it.
Let's not think of those predictions, but do what we must have to do in order for ourselves to be ready when disasters strike. Let us all pray fervently for God's help at all times.
Happy New Year too, my friend!

Thank you for the response. It was really sad, indeed. All those who lost their lives because of the flood. Those who have hurt themselves because of careless use of fireworks and explosives learned their lesson the hard way. May you enjoyed your new year's celebration.
