Your car is a reflection of you ! true or false..or neither !!

I was watching a movie a couple nights ago and the guy pulled up to his brother house ready to take him out and the brother took one look at the car and said 'Do you know your car is a reflection of you ".I think at the time he was referring to the fact that the car was old and dirty but then it occurred to me that there maybe more to it
Now I am not sure what led him to make that conclusion or what are the parameters of this discussion .Is it the physical appearance (interms of cleanliness ),the model vehicle or the amount of effort that goes into modifying the car that speaks to the persons personality .Can we for instance look at a dirty car and assume that the owner is tardy and nasty or is it a case that he didn't get a chance to wash the car .Can this neglect be extrapolated to mean that he neglects his wife and kids ? Does such a person take pride in doing their jobs ..Does such a person ever tell the truth? Now these are the questions I am hoping will be answered at the end of the discussion whether the car is really a temperature gauge for the personality of the person .
The way I see it is that its neither here nor there because I have heard of guys who drive the flashiest rides and would spend a tonne on the car and would feel to their core if they were to ever see a scratch on the vehicle and yet they place very little premium on taking care of their kids .
However this is your discussion so your views are welcomed ..So take it apart for me so that i can understand

I think sometimes yes and sometimes no.
My mother comes to mind. Her car is often pretty dirty, mostly on the inside with dust, crumpled up napkins and other stuff. So someone might look at this and say "Well she's obviously a dirty, messy person" Come into her house and it's a completely different story. She loves to clean and hates it when the house is messy. For my mother, a car is just an object that takes you from one place to the next. Since she's only in it for about less an hour a day, she doesn't really care what it looks like. She'll sometimes lament that her car is dirty, but she doesn't think it's a big deal.
For some people, a car is a big deal to them for what ever reason they have. For others, it isn't.
Someone driving an old, outdated car might only drive it because they can't afford to get the shiny, luxury car they truly want. Other times, maybe someone wants to have a certain image, so they buy a particular car that matches it, even if their personality is actually completely different. Perhaps the person driving a dusty car is so busy they don't have time to clean it...or they just drove from a desert
The only time I consider a car to be a reflection of the driver's personality is when they have bumper stickers, or fancy lights, or rims. The stickers often are a great view of their interests or lifestyle. I think they are a better indicator than the car model or condition.

I believe this would only be true of superficial people. A persons value should be how they are at heart not by what they have materialy. Which explains alot. There must be a lot of these superficial people driving the streets. They dont see pedistrians (consider them valueless because they are walking). They nearly run over people everyday because they dont see them. Some people have been actually run over and killed by drivers.

Some people have a lot of vain glory in their vehicle, so they make sure they have a really nice car. Truth is, it tells you nothing about the person, except that they are vain and have twisted values.
Better to get to know people, apart from their cars, before we assess their character.

I think that could hold true in many cases. The vehicle you drive, does say alot about you as a person.

It depends. Now I will say in my school years forsure it was a reflection of ME! My mother used to dumpster dive for cans, well she had to store them somewhere so she left them and all the coupon sections in her station wagon. Let me tell you it's not exactly reflecting on me lightly with an older car and filled to the brim with junk. Even the occasional coupon section stuck to oneself after or fear of being stung because bee's like the smell of soda.
So I actually liked having new cars and I kept them up, it ment the world to me to have something the world could see that made me look upstanding compared to my Mother's car. But I've paid a big price to have those new cars every few years... no savings and of course depreciation.

I don't have a car. I would hate to think that meant I was "nothing" lol
