I hear this preacher or that preacher tell the congregation that they don't need to understand the book of Revelation, just makes me so upset that someone would say you don't need to understand some book of the bible. They think they will fly away before the anti christ comes. I looked up the word in my dictionary this is what it says. act of revealing or diclosing; disclosure. Something revealed or disclosed, esp, a striking disclousure , as of something not before realized. Theol, a. God's disclusure of himself and of HIS will to HIS creatures. b. an instance of such communication or disclousure. c something thus communicated or disclosed.d that which contains such disclosure. d. that which contains such disclosure, as the Bible. Revelation, the Revelation of st. John the divine. So how can a supposed to be preacher tell us that we don't need to understand a book of the bible? Don't understand this either?

Do you think these preachers read the first few verses? Revelation 1:1-3 New Living Translation (NLT) 1 This is a revelation from Jesus Christ, which God gave him to show his servants the events that must soon take place. He sent an angel to present this revelation to his servant John, 2 who faithfully reported everything he saw. This is his report of the word of God and the testimony of Jesus Christ. 3 God blesses the one who reads the words of this prophecy to the church, and he blesses all who listen to its message and obey what it says, for the time is near.

Revelation 1:1-3 King James Version (KJV) 1The Revelation of Jesus Christ, which God gave unto him, to shew unto his servants things which must shortly come to pass; and he sent and signified it by his angel unto his servant John: 2Who bare record of the word of God, and of the testimony of Jesus Christ, and of all things that he saw. 3Blessed is he that readeth, and they that hear the words of this prophecy, and keep those things which are written therein: for the time is at hand. It is better to read God's word daily and read all of it and try to understand as much as God's spirit allows. All the best in your Bible study!

You know I don't know why they teach that you don't need to understand any book in the bible. I don't know about the new living translation I only read the King James bible it is more based on the manuscripts.

Personally this is interesting, as I feel as a Christian the Book of Revelations is very important in one's life especially of today. With everything happening around us I feel that the Book of Revelations is revealing to us everything that will happen and teaches us how important it is to be ready when the Trumpet sounds and God calls us home. Maybe we will pass on before then, but if not why mislead everyone and say it is not important?

I hate it that there are so many so called preachers out there that are misleading people. When I hear a so called preacher say that one book or another book of the bible isn't important I usually will leave that church and never return.

If God didn't think it was important to understand, why then did He reveal it to John and have him write it down? I think we would all be better off to listen to God rather than listen to man, no matter what position he holds. Preachers are mere men and sometimes what they say is wrong. That's a simple fact. Like being a consumer of goods, we are consumers of information, but let the buyer beware. It's up to each of us to see to it that what we consume is quality, undamaged and unspoiled.

I have been to so many teachers of Gods word and never knew as much as I have been taught by this man http://www.shepherdschapel.com/index.htm I have learned so much by listening to this man that I wanted to share Gods blessings with everyone. I went to a local church here close to me and heard the preacher tell this lady that she didn't need to understand Revelation and it just plain shocked me. I quit going to that church but see the so called preacher and he looks at me like I am a sinner and there is no hope for me. I would hate to be in the shoes of someone that is supposed to be teaching Gods word and them teaching that we don't need to understand one verse in the bible much less the whole book of the bible.

I think the preacher is false and he is going against the word, As you have mentioned that they don't need to understand the book of revelation, it clearly states that preacher is against the bible and not following the word, If you read some verses in the bible it states that behold Antichrist is at the door step be careful of false preachers. Whenever you go to any preacher test the preachers and listen to his preaching whether he preaches about Christ or something rubbish. In the next coming days it might happen so that we may not be able to hear properly the word of God. Its all about our personal relationship with Jesus. Whatever deeds we do we have to give an account of each and everything that we are speaking in front of God. Revelation is the most important book which today should know because it is written about future prediction and talked about heaven which God has prepared for us. Concluding on the topic i would say be careful from the preacher what he preaches and keep your bodies and mind wraped in the name of Jesus.

Amen Princecelierocks. But there are a lot of people out here in this world that will be fooled by so called preachers like this and it makes me mad that they would teach that we don't need to understand any part of the bible.

This is just one of the reasons why I stopped going to church. They preach one thing & one thing only, not covering even half of what the Bible offers. It's like they read some of the Bible, but not all of it & they answer your questions based on their own opinions & not on what the Bible itself says. I asked a Priest in my church one day to explain the Trinity to me & he said that it was not for me to understand the Trinity, but to just put faith in it. This made no sense to me, so eventually I stopped going to church altogether. I am happy to say that now I have found answers to my questions & the answers themselves can be found in the Bible. Isn't that where we are supposed to for answers anyway? Wasn't the Bible written by God Himself through men so that we could learn from it? It would make sense that God would want us to come to know His ways & to serve Him how HE wants to be served & not how men want us to serve Him. To me that makes the most sense of all.

I am like you I got so upset at all the local churches because none of them had real answers that I wanted to know. And by accident I found a real man of God and have been listening to him since 2004 he really teaches the bible I think like God would have wanted it taught. Since finding this man online I have learned so much that I am shocked when asked a question and I can really answer it sometimes I know exactly where to find it in the bible. This man has taught me and my husband so much in such a short time. If you like here is his url so you can go and see for yourself what he teaches. http://www.shepherdschapel.com/index.htm

This is the injustice that preachers in every faith do to the followers. And the followers get disillusioned. The practice perhaps in older times was that people would never want to get to the depth of it and believed they just had to hear & apply what is said. In the modern times, people want to really know, really understand but the preachers fail them. In fact I would call it betrayal because they have themselves probably not made serious attempts at getting to the truth for ages. Now when they are called to enlighten, they feel they are challenged.!

Some times when these so called preahers see that go P in the sky it means go plow your fields not preach the wrong word of what God wants taught.. I hope and pray for every soul that is in these kinds of churches. I quit going to a church because I found a real teacher of Gods word on the net.

This is why I can't stand the typical "church" It is the preacher's way or no way..Everyone should understand the bible, from beginning to end and unfortunately Revelations is one of the hardest books to understand, but that doesn't mean we shouldn't try..

That is why I thank God everyday for bringing me to the teacher of Gods word that I listen to. He makes the word easy to understand. Your right we need to pray and ask for understanding before we read the bible.

I thought Protestants removed many parts of the Bible? Thomas Jefferson didn't think highly of Revelations. "It is between fifty and sixty years since I read it [the Book of Revelation], and I then considered it merely the ravings of a maniac, no more worthy nor capable of explanation than the incoherencies of our own nightly dreams ... I cannot so far respect them as to consider them as an allegorical narrative of events, past or subsequent. There is not enough coherence in them to countenance any suite of rational ideas.... What has no meaning admits no explanation. And pardon me if I say, with the candor of friendship, that I think your time too valuable, and your understanding of too high an order, to be wasted on these paralogisms. You will perceive, I hope, also that I do not consider them as reveladons of the supreme being, whom I would not so far blaspheme as to impute to him a pretension of revelation, couched at the same time in terms which, he would know, were never to be understood by those to whom they were addressed." -- Thomas Jefferson, letter to General Alexander Smyth, January 17, 1825

there are many translations of the bible and most are not the true word of The LORD. So I listen to a real teacher of Gods word the way it should be taught. http://www.shepherdschapel.com/index.htm

I don't have a clue to who Jefferson was or wasn't and don't really listen to people that don't know that every book in the bible is just as important as each book.

Hi, sorry I didn't understand a word of what you said as I'm neither a Christian nor a believer, but I answer based on the sub heading. Here are the web definitions for you: Revelation: A surprising and previously unknown fact, esp. one made in a dramatic way. Reveal: Make (previously unknown or secret information) known to others. Revel: Engage in lively and noisy festivities, esp. those that involve drinking and dancing. So Revelation means to reveal and not to Revel.
