Do you enjoy your job.....

I've just recently changed jobs from working as a preschool teacher in a daycare for 7 years to a front desk agent job at an Inn. I enjoyed working in the daycare setting, but there was no room to move up as it was a small private daycare. Not to mention I did not have benefits or sick days and an unpaid vacation. I'm a hard worker, but I am not enjoying my new job. The work isn't too bad, but they don't give us lunch breaks and if someone calls out one of us has to work a double shift. They only have one front desk person at a time and we don't have a front desk manager. I don't know if I'm just tired of working in general or if it's because the job really sucks. Does anyone else feel this way? Any suggestions?

Maybe you are feeling stressed and its better to learn how to cope with stress than to do away with it completely? If possible, try having regular small breaks in your working hours and when you are not working, try to have some relaxation activities to relax. Sleep is a very important factor in relaxing ourselves, if one does not have adequate rest, one's productivity really drops when one goes to work the next morning.

I would love to take any kind of break. The problem is I don't get any and management doesn't care. They never come down from their offices to cover the desk if we need to go to the bathroom or eat. We also don't have a front office manager. There's not way for me to escape the stress for 8 hours.

I too feeling the same way at my current job. I just can't seem to work for a job in such a long time. I get bored with it doing the same thing over and over again. Now back to your question, due to the bad economy I would hold on to it at the same time try to find something better. When I say better I mean salary wise, benefits wise etc. At the moment you're only overdoing yourself and did you say no lunch break...that's completely wrong. You need a break from time to time this is good for your immune system.

I completely agree with you. My skin for one thing is telling me no break is unhealthy for me. I've never broken out so much before in my life. I wish I could quit but I have to wait until I find something else like you said. Thanks for your response.

This doesn't sound like a job. It's more like slavery! You must have a lunch-break and be able to sit for a while or you'll be fainting in front of the guests!

I feel the same way and I didn't know if anyone else saw it that way. Most people say you should be thankful for having a job. I'm sure the job wouldn't get on my nerves so much if I had a little break from it for even 10 minutes. My mental image of the job is a person chained to the front desk and you can't escape to go to the bathroom or eat something. I don't think that's normal and it's hard to change that since it's true.

When I first joined my job it really sucked... but as time passed by i started liking my job. But I still have mood swings. Sometimes I enjoy my job Sometimes I feel its time to quit. Anyways as it is the beginning of my career...I think I can try out different jobs to see which one interests me the most. I feel one should do what he likes because you are gonna be working your entire life and you don't want to end up doing something you don't like.

That is exactly how I feel. The problem is I don't know what I'll enjoy doing. Probably something with my hands, but that's difficult to find when you don't have a degree.

I wish I could work from home, at least it would add a little time to my day, not traveling so far to work. I feel like I leave the house in the dark and then return home when it's dark. What kind of job do you have?

I would if i had any. haha
But in serious note, i think every job after a while gets a bit depressing. Even though it might be your favorite, or combine your hobby with job, i think when time passes it will become boring.
Example i was working on kebab restaurant, and after 2 weeks i didnt wanna see any more kebab...Thats a true and big example haha

You are right, I guess I don't want to to admit that I got sick of the hotel job so fast.

Friend it depends on your monthly salary, if the salary is good then you have 2 sacrifice some thing in life, and if not then you may change your job and find for a good one, that u feel easy and convenient.

My salary isn't good at all. It's been six months and they still can't seem to get my benefits in effect. I actually took a pay cut to change jobs. Thanks for the advice.
