Last year I stitched something and then LOST it!

I was making it for the roomie's first great-niece. I actually finished it in January, since the last couple of months of 2010 were totally nuts.
But then I needed to frame it, and then I lost the frame I got for it, then I got another frame but had lost the project.
Well, today, on the niece's first birthday, I FOUND IT!!!
Of course, as you might expect, I'd lost the second frame as well, so I ran off to Hobby Lobby and got a frame, a mat and a cute little wood castle to glue to the frame.
Now, the mat is actually a nice dark pink that matches the pink in the project, but they both look red in the photo.
Sometimes things just work out don't they?

I really like that project!! What a great thing to give a child, she can use it all her life. It's cute now. As a teenager it'll give her attitude and as an adult it'll show her significant other who's boss! Glad you found both components one way or another, I know how that is and hate it when that happens with my jewelry projects.

Many times I lose things and then I find them when I´m not looking for them. The best happens when you find things at the right time as it happened to you. I just had such an experience, but with 20 years of difference. I had lost some fabric I had bought 20 years ago to make a dress for my first granddaughter. My granddaughter grew and I forgot about it. A month ago, I went to my daughter´s house to sew with her for her baby daughter and remembered that I had seen some old fabrics inside a drawer. I checked them and took them. My daughter was specially attracted to one of them. And suddenly I realised that that was the piece that I had bought for her first baby, over 20 years ago.

I don´t mind that. I´m 66 years YOUNG and quite immature and crazy for my age. I have also discovered that some people like crazy ol´ witches

Very nice. Now don't lose it again before you give it to the princess.

It had gone beyond annoying all the way to worrisome about losing it, and then looking for something else all together - of course - it literally jumped out of what I had opened and fell on the floor! It was still in plastic so it didn't get dirty....

I'm so glad you found the project and finally got it framed. It looks good in the picture whether it is red or pink. I take it you got the gift to the great-niece?

That's great! It seems as kids get older, they are able to handle being around animals better. Hopefully you get to see her often!

Hehehe I'm SOOOOOO glad to know that things like this don't just happen to me!!!
I'm also happy to hear that you finally got both the project and the frame together, even if it is a second frame. Also, to find the lost project on the first birthday of the roomie's grand-niece is awesome!
Kinda reminds me of something I just bought recently: a tiny baby onsie with "I don't need Santa, I have Grandma!" embroidered on it. I found it at Goodwill about a month ago and thought it was so cute I had to buy it. (It was still in it's original package, never used.) Then, two weeks later, I found out I was going to BE the Grandma! It fell into place, very much like your cross-stitch project.
It's precious, by the way. So right for a little princess' wall. And, I love the little touch of the castle you glued to the frame. Adorable!!!

That is beautiful!
I have done that a bunch of times. I used to get presents for people early when I could find them on sale or if I knew that they would be difficult to find during the holiday season. Then, I would put them away in a place where I thought that they would be "safe" until they were needed. Unfortunately, I tended to make them so "safe" that even I couldn't find them, although I suspect that I had a little "help" from my ex when he was looking for something, because he had a tendency to rifle through things and then not put them back or put them back in the wrong places. This did work to my advantage a few times, though, because I would find the gift and say "oh yeah, now I don't have to buy anything for that person, because I already got this for them".

Good grief girl, you remind me of me. I always love "finding" things. Or finishing things. Those other two frames will show up at some point just when you need them most.

Your story sounds like something that might have happened at my house. I like your needle work. The little girl will love it. The year's delay is good, as the child is better able to appreciate it than the infant she was when you made it.

Welcome to my world LOL
I have 3 projects going so I have a floss box for each wound on bobbins. I have needles and scissors in each box so I don't have to steal from each one.
I have a book case and one shelf holds my pattern, floss box with name of project on lid (masking tape) and the material is in the plasic liner of the pattern.
If I did not keep everything together I would go totally insane.
But it works. that way when I want to work on it, I can just pull out whatever one I want to work on.
Sure glad you found the piece in time. Hobby Lobby called me on mine Friday and I told her I was not driving in this traffic til after the 1st. I will go in on the 2nd to get the April Birthstone.
I have seen so many wrecks in the last 2 weeks I don't want to be another traffic accident statistic. We have 3 to 4 states that come here every weekend. So between our state and battling the way others drive in their states you just know when to stay off the road LOL
Anyway hope your great neice loves her piece.
