Self Destructive Tendencies . . .

I am depressed but I haven't been on medicines. The thing is, when I'm alone, I put myself down, and to the core. I say the worst things about myself, and how I'm incapable of anything. Not that I do it consciously, but it just happens. And it happens to psychotic levels, and I feel crappy the whole of the next day and I didn't even eat anything after yesternight. Do you thing something is terribly wrong with me?

I think that there is something wrong with 'us'... Yes, I am just like you.. I have been diagnosed with Bipolar Disorder before 3-4 years and I haven't done anything about it.. I once tried to kill myself... Now, I pray to God to kill me, as I don't want to be known as someone who couldn't face life and killed himself... While I am writing this, I am totally alone and I have the lowest possible thoughts on my mind.. It is the New Year's Eve and I am going to be alone... It is too frustrating for my poor nerves. yes, there is something wrong with me.. I don't have real friends... I couldn't even find love in my life... I could do nothing actually... I am gonna be 30 this year and life is as useless as it could be... Is there a meaning to existence????

Hey... You are too young... Don't get into that.. or let me rephrase... Do not let those negative things get on you... Do something about it.. You have time and you can get out of it... 20 is too young an age for depression... Talk to your parents about it and do something as fast as you can... Good luck pal!!!

Thank you Pearl. For me, 20 is like 200. I have completely lost all perception of time and age and I feel soooooo ooooold!!!!

Depression is something that usually happens. When depressed, you must calm yourself, and try to control yourself. When depressed, we often do negative things, without realizing the consequences. So, when depressed, what we need is peace.

Peace is very easy to say, and difficult to do. I also had, depression, and makes me very down. In fact, I had to visit a psychiatrist. I am trying to follow the advice psychiatrist to peace and calm down. Was initially very difficult, but eventually I could do it. When depressed, I always think of good things. I busied myself with something that could make me feel better. One way is to log in MyLot.

Attaining peace is easier said than done. My peace is, well let's put it that way, momentary. I can't be peaceful for long.

No, to me it sounds like you are just depressed. Trust me when I say you are not alone in feeling this way. I too suffer from depression & just like you I am always putting myself down, I'm very negative about the way I look & worse of all I think that there really isn't anything that I can do right. Don't try to fight depression on your own. Trying talking to your doctor. He(or she)can refer you to a Therapist. You don't want to try & fight depression on your own because it could get worse & that in itself could be dangerous.

That's just depression you're feeling. I think you need to be out with a friend and have a nice time and chat with them. Sometimes being alone can make one crazy. I have been in the same situation when I was down with problems before... but not actually starving myself.. but I would feel so down and it shows on my aura and I've lost a lot of weight those times.

I think you just have to have a talk about it with someone. Well, that's what I thought whenever I get depressed before. But since no one would dare to listen, I started doing blogs and joining forums just to get my head away from the self destructive tendencies. You could try keeping yourself busy or finding motivation to get through the depression.

Some times these things can be attributed to chemical imbalances. As you already said you aren't on any medicines. Some times medicines can help to rectify the chemical imbalances that can lead to depression. It's not always easy to keep a positive frame of mind... perhaps this has something to do with some recent events in your life? I wish you the best and hope you can overcome these self destructive tendencies.

There haven;t been anything awfully disturbing recently, but yes I think it is somewhat because of the winter blues.

Talking to someone makes you feel good. But by believing you are something is better. No one can first make you feel better than yourslef. If you believe in yourself the people around you will believe of what you are capable of doing. As some of our peers here said you are not alone on this. Time comes when others including me are experiencing depression and feeling down. Always tell to your self i can make it and i can do better about it.
