Apparently a woman thought that it was a shame the deceased would be buried with such a lovely ring so she decided to take it at the last viewing of the deceased. http://www.jsonline.com/news/wisconsin/woman-accused-of-stealing-ring-from-corpse-131166663.html I don't know about you mylotters but I think that would be quite disrespectful, nor could I fantom doing such a thing. It's great the family got the ring back but it was returned after the burial. The woman the news reported would face about 15days in jail and then serve probation.

Yes, it is a shameful thing to do... The jwellery which decorates the corpse has sentiments attached to it.. So stealing that implies hurting those emotions... I would not dream of doing that... The punishment too, sounds very low compared to the crime...

I think the punishment is quite low as well atleast a few months or a year in jail.

i am sort of suprised that the punishment is not more severe actually. it seems horrible to me that someone would even think of doing that.

At most one could "think" to themselves that it's a shame the person is being buried with such a lovely item, but not act so foolishly and steal from a corpse.

What is wrong with people these days? Though at the same time I do understand.. not the stealing part.. but why would you bury valuable jewelry with a person? Why not pass it on to someone else in the family?

I agree I'd hope they would pass it on rather than be buried with the items but it's up to the wishes of the deceased and their family what happens to the items.

Thats just crazy. I think i would rather keep the ring and have as a keepsake or hand down from generation to generation instead of burial.

Theft is theft. To steal from a corpse is especially bad because the person is not able to defend himself.

Oh my word, that's terrible! I can't imagine doing something that terrible. That's one reason why I have donated my body to science. Then no one can steal my stuff.

Do you mean a woman was a relative of the deceased or another who was supposed to be a thief? Nowadays, stealers are brave enough to dig out a grave to take something off from the buried deceased. It must be a valuable thing that they stole. You know getting a decent job is now like taking blood from a stone. Some people are willing to do anything just to earn a living.

such a shame she did by going to the deceased and remove the ring from the corpse, its a bad omen and could be fined for this. The woman is really a bad intention person and bad element of the society.

What she did was indeed a terrible and disgusting thing, showing a total lack of respect for the deceased;I guess that woman is obsessed with material possessions and especially with precious thing such as that ring.Anyway, she should realize that,no much how much wealth we acquire in our existence,we take nothing from it with us when we leave this world.Maybe that thought would prevent from repeating such a shameful act.
