It is that time of the year again where the street are jam packed with heavy traffic and people hurrying around to finish up all their last minute shopping before they great the new year. I am looking forward to another round of merry making as we do every year on the last day of December. As usual we're going to have a barbecue and drinking, some are investing on the poker table playing cards while the rest are chatting away while waiting for the clock to strike 12 where everyone will join hands to sing the auld lan syne. Afterall it is the last day of the year and the next day is a public holiday to honor the first day of the new calender year. So everyone would be in high spirit to celebrate the new year eve.
It seems just not too long ago we were welcoming 2011 and now it is almost three hundred and sixty five days later and we will be ushering in 2012.
What a tumultuous year it has been! With all the horrendous happenings in various parts of the world many people are looking forward and praying for better and less turbulent times. The weather, political upheaval and financial markets have all been thoroughly distressing. So many uncertainties lie ahead but yet there is no choice but to plough on and hope for the best. I wish everyone a very Happy New Year!

I usually celebrate my new year being with family.
there have been times when my friends often asked me to go for outing or some fun, but i prefer a 'no' because for me being with my parents for the new year is more important...and yet, the next day after new year, i do enjoy with friends...preferably a dinner in some hotel or a simple quiet walk in the evening, watching the sunset, etc..
Advance Happy new year to all! :)

Dear Zandi458,
Happy New Year 2012 to you too :)
Every 31/12 of the year our church has midnight service and
prayer to usher the new year. We will pray for the peace of
world, sing praises and some even write out their resolutions.
Since I and my son are having cough and flu right now, I think
we won't be going to attend this midnight prayer meeting, do
not intend to spread the bacteria
Many hotels, clubs, pubs and restaurant are having special
event, menus for the countdown parties. Malls will be having
street dance party and fire works too
All the best for a very productive and happy 2012

It is nice to begin the new year attending to a church service. In the midst of our merry making we should not forget to give thanks to our Heavenly Father for all the goodness He has bestowed on us in the past year and pray that the new year would be a better one.
Yes, during new year eve people would spend their time in hotels and clubs as these places have drawn up special programs especially for new year celebrators. I used to go to these high end functions when I was young but now I just couldn't stand the deafening loud musics in these premises. I would rather stay home in the company of my loved ones in celebrating the new year. Happy New Year and GBU.

We give each other presents and at 12 o'clock go outside, shoot up some fireworks and look think what the upcoming year will offer us. :)

in the past, we have gone to a party of people that all attend the church we belong to. it is held at someone's house (the house is quite large) and we ring in the new year this way. however, this year, i am not sure as my daughter has a bad cold, we may just stay home.

Parties are everywhere here especially at the beach. People especially the young ones will thronged to the beach till the wee hours of the morning. At the stroke of 12 midnight everyone will rush to take a dip in the sea water with loud music can be heard miles away. The scenario here during new year eve is so unique.

Hi Zandi, hope you do enjoy your recent New year 2012 celebration. As for me, this year is a bit special from the other years, it is because my relatives are coming joining in the fun of welcoming the new year 2012. For them, they think this new year 2012 is more special than the previous years. It is because it had been marked as the end of this world. Lets us pray more and hope for the best to come and hope this wonderful world will always be here forever...Happy New Year 2012 to you and family...

Thousand apologies for this long delay in replying you. I have unintentionally overlooked this discussion not until someone responded. Who knows when is the end of the world but the disastrous natural calamities that swept around the globe might be a signal that the end is near

New Year has changed for me along the years. When my husband was alive, we did things together. Usually we waited for New Year at my MILs home and then we`d say good bye and start having fun. Several times we had parties with friends. In the last years of my marriage, we would wait for the New Year and then go to bed. Now that I`m a widow, I usually go to a friend`s house. We drink champagne to the New Year, we embrace each otherr and wish each other the best.

Thank You Friend. Your observation is good. Yes if our heart is truly human, we do feel the pain for all those horrendous events, realy the heart aches. And this coming new year, let us hope for the best inspite of all those threatening messages of disasters predicted for 2012. God is the Father of all. Those who have faith in God, to whatever religion that they may belong to, let us join the hands and invoke our God, our Heavenly Father to spare us from evil.
It does not matter, whether the disasters will befall or not. Why to be afraid of the disasters predicted for 2012? Didn't we suffer during this year? Natural and man made calamities will be there always. There had been always. But those who know little more about our God also know that God is merciful. When people have joined together in prayer, repentence against sin and have fasted God has deviated the predicted disasters.
This year too let us be together spiritually and join hands together and ask for God's mercy, let us ask God to sapre us from all evil and protect us in His Grace.
A VERY HAPPY AND GRACEFUL NEW YEAR TO YOU

Let us pray that our Heavenly Father will intercede any disasters predicted for 2012, even if it means washing the 'dirts' of this world but let there be less calamities compared to the sufferings that has happened this year. Let us all pray that this world will see less disasters next year.
Happy New Year

Usually I welcome the New Year with my family at home, because my children were small. This year, however, I will welcome the New Year on the mountain with a large group of friends. We'll stay in a beautiful mountain hut with lots of amenities and entertainment. The best thing is that we can combine welcoming the new year with skiing. I think we will spend wonderful and I look forward official dinner.

Nothing special when it comes to my New Year! I always find it to be boring. know why? Because I just stayed at home with Television on and with the compute on just to know what's happening around the world. Even If I stayed at home I always make sure that I will welcome 2012 with a SMILE.

I usually celebrate New Year in the mode of prayer. I don't have that custom of gathering rounds objects or fruits during New Year to have good luck. For me good luck is a blessing. All blessings comes from God. I start the new year with high hopes and belief or trust I will receive God blessings and experience God's miracle with coming 2012. Though we don't know what would be our future for 2012 but surely we know who holds the future of 2012 that is God Himself.

When I was younger I used to make a big deal out of celebrating the new year. Me and my husband would go out drinking and dancing and just generally having a good time. It is good memories.
Now that I am older and my husband is no longer with me I don't celebrate as much. I don't drink any more because I am on medication and anybody with any brains knows that drinking and medication don't mix.
Now, I just sit around and reflect on where the time has gone and make plans to try and make the next year more meaningful.
