Hello MYLOTTERS,
I have seen lots of people who usually remain serious and don't even smile when they need to laugh loudly. One of the example is one of my friend he always remains serious and rarely smiles even the best joke can hardly move him. What do you say i should do with him? Can someone tell me?

Awwe! They used to have it when I was working there, about 3 years ago (in Canada)! They had it at the end of the menu (smiles ---- FREE!).
I had someone come through the drive-thru and order a smile one day :) I processed it like a normal order, asking for $0 at the cash window, and asking him to drive to the next window to receive his order. I ran to the next window and gave him a huge smile and a "have a great day"! :P

Let him be. It is his way. He may not have a great senseof humor Or was taught Not to show any emotion Or he is stoic. It doesn't matter the reason just accept him as is.

Hello sarahruthbeth22,
Yes i think so he is taught not to show his emotions to others but does it make difference if i come to know that he is happy today if he tells me by smiling.
Yes there is no alternative i have always accepted him the way he is because after all he is my friend from long time and will be forever.

Hi sj
Well, Its really hard to tell what to do? ha ha.. I mean its very hard to change any people's nature. Its not like he is having some problem with smile. Its all about nature. I know some people who used to laugh loudly when there is no need of it.. And then got scold by elders.. And trust me he never listen to anyone.

Hi AKP,
Yes i am one of those who laughs easily when its really not required.I remember once i was punished for it school days by a teacher even then i did not left this habit good or bad i myself don't know it.
I understand its not easy to change someone's nature but being a friend i always would like to smile as he looks good when he smiles.

I'd say tickle him He would surely laugh then hehe!
Well I have seen some really very serious people but my friends aren't one of those. We are always talking and screaming and laughing when we are together LOL when I'm with my friends, they make me forget of all the things that's been bothering me and that is why I love them so much hehe!!

@ thatgirl i also love to be with friends as i also forget all my tension and stress of the day and could really have the reasons to laugh loudly.
@ CT sis oh for sure he won't like to be tickled as he is very serious person and i doubt if he allows me to do it as i will have to take his permission to do this.

There are really people who don't smile a lot. I'm the opposite, I smiled even at the silliest joke! But my BF don't. He is the type of guy you're describing here. He rarely smiles and usually is serious. 'Though I am glad that eventually I am seeing him smile and laugh. Maybe there are just people like that, normal for them and they just don't find humor in most of the things. So just let him be like that

Well , be yourself. If your a smiling type of person then smile at that person eventhough he is a snobbish type. I guess that person has a different type of personality of yours. He seems strict and snob but I guess deep inside of him is glad that someone will share a smile on him.

@ vanessa oh yes it seams he is snobbish type of person. He does not want his emotions to be displayed on his face.
@ joannaleed i too think they them self will learn how to smile as our efforts will go in vain and then they would understand that what they were loosing when they were hiding their emotions with in them.

I smile most of the time, unless my mind is preoccupied thinking of something else I don't even notice what I am doing or people I am passing by
the only time I don't smile or laugh at a joke is if I don't find it funny or I don't like the person that tells it
but yes I used to know someone like that, always serious, at least to me
it doesn't bother me, kind of says why he looks much older than people his age LOL

I don't know what you can do may be he is just like that? I Am different I can laugh at any thing even in the most precarious situations I would find something funny! I can't help but smile when some one greets me in the street I may be in a bad mood but a smile would brighten my day and some one else's too. Keep smiling after all is free to give and receive and most of all keep the bad wrinkles away.

Hello alottodo,
That's right even i too can't stop myself laughing even when i have not got a valid reason to laugh.Yes it depends on person's nature some people really don't like to smile but they really should understand that they don't loose anything if they do it only they gain it if they do so.

Hi sjvg: I think that some people act this way thinking that, this is the best way people will take them seriously. These kind of persons are to focus on the problems and the things they have to do that they actually forget about the beauty things we have in life and all the opportunities we have to laugh and enjoy. Sure, smile don't cost a thing.

Hello starsailover,
That's right these type of people don't know that they don't know how to live surely in my opinion to remain serious always and just focus on the problems is not the way to solve problems. One should really focus on to the lighter part of the life too to lessen stress of the day.

Perhaps you can asked what is going to make him laugh?? It is so sad to know that he is not enjoying things that make others happy...It it is okay I wanted to smile every second I can but you may say that I am crazy to smile alone~(^^)People who don't know me might say that I am a serious person. In fact the truth is I am not. I hope he don't forget how to smile and get laugh. It is pretty serious matter if he do forget how to~(^^)

Hello.. It is true that there are a few glum mugs who hate to laugh... They don't understand that smile radiates energy and expresses happiness which is pleasent to the person who receives the smile... Smile takes away the stress...
Show a tom and jerry episode to your friend...

How sad for this man for he has forgotten how to smile which unfortunately deprived him of all the goodness of human relationship. If he is a serious person by nature, no amount of jokes can move his lips to smile. It is pointless to get him to smile as he may consider you invading his privacy. Let him learn the simple ABC of smiling by himself and am sure he will shock with his smiling Budha face.

It costs zero pence to smile and it can be bought in any currency. Laughing is good for a person and can be relaxing. One of my friends has a dad that is known as Mr Miserable. One Christmas he got a book called How To Become Happy. It is a shame that he put it in his bookcase and never read it. It is a pity not even the best joke can make your friend laugh or smile. Maybe get a mirror and make funny faces. One might make him laugh. If not he could learn how to get his face into a smile. Good luck.

Hello Maimax,
Yes everyone knows it that it costs nothing and its the best medicine even though they don't understand it.
It made me laugh when i read about Mr Miserable*hehehe*
Hope he understands it with time himself as all my efforts have been failed to make him smile/laugh.

Hi Sjvg
Yes, it costs you only a few chocos, a few simple jokes if you want to make me smile. To MyLot, it only costs one to make me smile.
For the guy in question, there is nothing that you can do. He is a corrupt guy and will ask you a big big bribe to pretend he is smiling... and in that Bribe... you can really make many others smile. So try to make them smile - sometimes, many is better than one

Hello lajonez,
Oh yes not all people have the same nature some easily laugh for small things and some don't even for the things for which they should laugh. I am sort of a person who laughs at the small things also as it keeps me fresh all the time.
