My company left this morning. And they left something behind!

My daughter and her family were here for a week. I had to work this morning and when I got home my granddaughters coat was still hanging on the coat rack! She will be a bit chilly without it! I know when I leave someone's house I try to do a walk through and make sure I have everything....and sometimes I still forget something behind! Does your company have a habit of leaving things behind? Do you sometimes forget things when you leave someone else's house? It seems like this family has a tendency to go without something! I'll have to mail it after work tomorrow!

Did you get the coat mailed? Our kids, when they were small, always left things behind especially our youngest daughter. If we traveled and stayed in a hotel, it usually wasn't found and returned to us. This same daughter came to visit in September and left her favorite jeans at our other daughter's house. So they were mailed back to her the day after she left to go home. Don't recall our grandkids leaving anything behind this Christmas so that was a good thing! When I was a kid I can recall leaving a life size doll at a relative's cabin in the northeast. It was never returned to me and I was totally devistated. Took me a long time to get over it. Wonder what ever happened to that doll...lol I'm careful to double check each room before I leave either a hotel or our daughter's house now when we travel.

It's almost scary it's so warm here today in Missouri. 70 degrees out there right now and sunny. Nebraska usually has some difficult winters.

I did as she needed it as soon as possible due to them being in Nebraska for a week. It's very warm here but not warm enough for a little girl to go without a coat!

I hope she has another jacket or that it isn't so cold where she lives. I know with this crazy weather, it is so warm, a jacket would be the last thing I'd remember, especially if I left while it was still warm outside.

When we would visit my grandmother she would have us walk around her home before we left to check and see if we forgot anything. She would always tell us, now make sure you take everything home with you or when I find it I'll be sad because I'll miss you (we lived 2 1/2 hrs. away).

Odd thing to forget.. wouldn't you realize you need it as soon as you stepped outside? I've never left anything major while visiting anyone. Though one time we went to visit a friend in Ottawa, and had gone shopping and stuff. When I got home I found my friend's purchases in my suitcase. It wasn't long until she came down to visit us, so I was able to return the purchase then. Thankfully it wasn't important, just a t-shirt she'd found on sale.

I always do the "walkthrough" no matter where I go...sometimes more than once. I have forgotten things before too and it's no fun to be a hundred miles down the road and think "Oh no!" That last thing we forgot was a book my daughter left behind in Indiana. Well...it was a book for school so she had to have it. She was all to pieces and we were already three hours on the way back home. Thanks goodness my b/f's mom was kind enough to pop it in the mail the next day. She managed to get it on time but now, she does the walkthrough with me

That is a good idea...and she will continue to do it by herself when you aren't around too! Saves alot of hassel.

Maybe she has another jacket or a heavy sweater/sweatshirt she was wearing. Who knows. I usually make a list of everything being taken along somewhere, just for that purpose. It is too bad you have to pay postage to send it back. I wonder how far they will get before they realize they have forgotten it.

That is good that you were able to get a hold of them right away. Hopefully she had some warmer clothes that she could wear until she got home. If she didn't maybe they stopped and picked something up for her to wear. Have a Happy New Year

I have the same problem here sometimes. I try to do a walk-through for them so that they do not leave anything here.

Or make a mental check list! I have forgotten several things behind when I have visited others but not recently!

Hi jillhill, I think we all have done that at one time or another. I went riding with my sister the other day and I left my coat in her car. It was a nice day so I just took the coat off and threw it in the back seat. She brought it back to me though. When my company leaves something behind I try to always put it somewhere where I can see it because if I don't then I will forget that they left it. I have a slow cooker my sister left here about 2 years ago, it is put away and I forget it every time. I only remember it when I am looking for something and come across it. I guess she doesn't need it because she hasn't asked for or about it.

Hi jillhill, Sometimes people do overlook to bring back their stuff especially when they're in a hurry or are distracted. Anyway as long as it's not something important then I think it's alright. However imagine the horror or inconvenience if a passport has been left behind and you only realize it at the airport ! I don't usually forget as I try to make a checklist the night before I depart and make sure I tick the items off before I leave the place. I don't rely on my memory as I find it unreliable at times. I know it's troublesome to prepare a checklist but better to be safe than sorry. Have a good day.

Perhaps, she left it for you. She give it to you as present. I never meant to leave my stuff in someone house when I left otherwise I wanted to give it to the owner of the house. She might be ashamed to let you know that she wanted to present you her jacket. The best thing you should do is to email her about leaving her jacket in your house. I hoped not she forgot to leave her jacket.

I have already sent it back to her! I think she might be getting chilly with the cooler temps then she is used to!
