so in the new year i have decided to make a trip to ecuador to both volunteer and site see. i will be going for 3 weeks in Feb. anyone have any tips or tricks? I have never been and i'm flying all the way from Australia so it will be a big one. Still working on my spanish kind of just hoping that will fall into place once i get there. has anyone ever been? what are the "must do's" of Ecuador and the definite "DONT'S" ? I'm going with just one friend, even more interestingly will anyone be travelling to Ecuador in Feb? My plans are to volunteer at an animal refuge/sanctuary in Ibarra (which i have already lined up) for 2 weeks and sight see for 1 week. Feel free to add whatever you like to this anything is helpful :)

Your trip to Ecuador sounds very interesting. I haven't been there yet but it is on my travel wish list. Last year I very much enjoyed visiting Colombia. You will find it very rewarding to volunteer at the animal sanctuary and animal refuge. You will be able to practice speaking Spanish. I hope that you will have a lovely time there after flying in all the way from Australia.
