if you have a cellphone, it is not uncommon to experience the situation: shall i answer the phone when i donot know the number?
when i meet this, sometimes i will answer sometimes i am not. sometimes i will be happy after answer it sometime i regret.
maybe it is you old friend he just change his number, maybe it is the interviewer calling you......
but there are also sometimes it is just one saleman want to sale his products, a cheater want to get your money.......
it is maybe an opportunity but maybe also a waste of time, what will you do if you meet this case?

I don't ever answer my cell phone if I don't know the number or if the number is private. People that I give my cell phone number to are people that I enjoy talking to and their numbers will be in my contacts. The only time I answer if I don't know the number is if I am expecting a call from someone whose number I may not know, such as a perspective employer.

I prefer not to answer the phone if I don't know the number. Friends usually write messages when their calls were not answered. Many of the callers whose number I don't know are, like you said, cheaters, salesmen or maybe the persons who dialed the wrong number. For interviewers, I usually have a special number, so no one will phone me to this number.

I tend not to answer the phone if i do not know the telephone number, also if it is a person that has changed their number, they will always leave their name and their new number.I hate getting calls that i do not know whos number it is, also when there is no message left.

I actually had this incident where some fool, who obviously had my number, signed up with a matrimonial website with my number, but a different name.
So I picked up this random call and it was from them asking if I had signed up with them, and if my name was what they said. I got a call from a girl and I said no, and she was polite enough and she hung up.
The next day, I got a call from the same site, and it was a guy, who tried to force me into telling them my name. But I didn't, and so fortunately, the didn't call after that.
The next week, I wasn't picking up any unknown numbers, but I got a call from a friend. I didn't pick it up, and he showed at my home, he lives nearby.

you shouldn't, because in our modern technology today, they can use that method as a tracker or something, they can locate your address . You can't tell what's within the mind of the caller , etc. Just to avoid danger, just ignore the call.
