I have no Holiday and I will not celebrate tonight, I will be at work in the office being miserable. I know I am not the person who is going to be that way,I think some of my officemates will bring in food, I hope they will, for sure its not something you can consider a party cos I will still be working. My boss didnt approved my leave so I have no choice but to work, Celebrating new year in front of my cubicle, that will be my situation tonight.I wish I will be at home relaxing....
on the other hand I dont feel i will be relaxed from the air pollution and noise pollution from the fireworks.

Capt,
Well,that's the problem.
I remember listening music thru youtube - we are allowed to open the net, but no chatting then.
I need music while guiding my customers to trouble shoot their handset or else- I will go insane (smarties dumb) lolzz

this is not my ideal new year, I want a party, i want a pool under the stars, I want beautiful women in bikinis not women in blazers, miniskirts, stockings and office attires. I want champagne not a cup of creamless coffee.

My girlfriend and 3 other girls are the onlyones I can consider bikini worthy in the office... the other ones can stick with their blazers and office attires. My boss is the typical woman who eats a lot of fast food, she should stick with her sweaters...

Hi CaptAlbert,
Nope...you sure are not alone at all. I work in a small store and I have to work. I'm ok with it though. I knew ahead that I will be working and it's fine. People who come in are usually in really good moods on the holidays so that helps. Being miserable isn't going to change a thing so may as well make the best of it. There are some people who never get holidays. People in the medical field, police, fire crews etc. People who work on our roads during storms give up their holidays so that we can travel safe. Lots of people work on the holidays. Cheer up. Happy New Year!

I am sure that there are thousands of us out here and there who will be working on that day. Just relax. there is nothing special about it. its just another day.

You are not alone in working during the holiday. I am working too, the only difference is I will be doing the work at home. I have 10 articles to finish until Sunday afternoon and I have only finished 1 so I will spending the whole day tomorrow rushing to finish the work. But if you have been used to being a workaholic, then you will just be restless at home knowing that your officemates will be there. My significant other is also on duty and will be very busy tonight. Anyway, happy new year!!!!

I use to be a writer at certain point of my life,if I dont have a writers block I would have been making articles and books again. I wish I will overcome that writer's block. if I dont have a writer's block I would have not been in this pathetic office.

I feel for you as thats not a very nice boss in my estimation.

At a time when so many are out of work and have been for years, I think any boss is good because it means you have money for food, clothing, housing, etc. There are a lot of folks out there who would switch with you to feed their families. Happy New Year.

Hiya Captain
That is quite a scene for partying dear. I see the plus points here. At least that is much better than staying all alone in the home doing nothing but watch a movie on the PC - that is what I have to do tonight. No where to go or celebrate. The hotels, parks etc - where ever I could think to go... are all filled with people and I dont want huge crowds. The only issue being alone is that you are alone and there isnt anyone to talk to.
I think the last year too it was you and your work. maybe I am wrong but... Anyways, I wish you a Happy and Prosperous 2012 with great health

I am lucky this year. I don't have to work late at night. Tomorrow, It is my day off. I feel better this year than last year. I know it hurt me too much when I have to work on holidays. Now, it is my turn to rest from doing the work on my own holidays and enjoy New Year 2012. Time is over working on Holidays.

Just a case of bad luck not being hte one getting a vacation leave for the holiday! Just forget the negative thing. Just think about the double pay perk that you will be getting. Anyways, you can still celebrate the New Year once you get out of the office. You just missed a lot of fireworks show at that. Work really hinders a lot of pleasurable things eh? Well, maybe that means you will be working whole year round for 2012 as you have started the year already working! Just kidding! Cheer up!

Actually Capt I would trade with you if I could. I am disabled and am unable to work and I really did not have any plans for New Years other than putter around on the web. I would rather get paid than not. Also there are other people who have to work on this day too. Some of them I'm glad that they are such as firemen and police. Anyway....you can still celebrate New Year's in your heart...you made it for another year!!

I would love to be able to work on New Year's. Instead I will be at the hospital hoping my husband lives through the operations he's facing. If he lives, his kidneys may be destroyed and he will go on dialysis the rest of his life. Yes, I would give anything to be anywhere except waiting for the possibility of my husband dying.

He had stints put into his right leg, a toe removed and now he is threatened with permanently damaged kidneys because of the iodine they had to use to put in the stints. He had an upset stomach after the operation. Yet, with all this he smiles when he sees me. What a man!

Well, I also had some work from the Christmas to New Year but I was allowed to do it at home. I was relieved because I am my mother's traditional helper (as a female member of the family) in these type of celebrations. I have to help cook, organize and prepare for both festivities. add to that, clean the house for the New Year.
It was my first time working, even at home during Christmas time. But I kinda didn't mind because I gonna have payment for my work and I have lost the logic of celebrating a day in a week time period. Granted, I love the vacation that it did bring. But the vacation also makes me lax and alack. With the cold weather, all I wanna do is curl up in my bed.
At least you have your co-workers and food. Nothing beats the feeling of being with friends and loved ones in Christmas or New Year, even there's a pile of work to do.

I am tellingyou I dont love my coworkers nor my family. LOL My ideal celebration is not the good old wholesome ceral commercial happy family ones. I just want to rest. I am planning to retire ones I have enough money. I found a way to be stable without working hard.

I work in the evening, I'm, on a night shift so thats the reason why i cant celebrate. Unless my officemates will order some food, then there will be food.
