I'm talking about those animal rescue ads that air on TV, you know the ones with the graphic sad images of animals suffering in cages looking through the bars with sad soulful eyes, then they cut to a stray animal that looks so sad, and afraid, also some of the animal clips show animals that are missing eyes and other limbs, the ads also show slaughterings while Sarah Mclachlan sings those angelic songs that shes so good at singing, OMG! stop please I'm sure there must be a better add they can create to get donations
I understand that they need donations, but if people can't stand to watch long enough that might lower their chances of getting a donation personally I hope they think of a much less tragic add to make so my eyes can be spared seeing those sad harsh images. anyone else agree?

I totally know what you mean! I was thinking about that the other day. I feel like they are trying to manipulate me and I don't appreciate it. I get they want donations, but the people who will actually give them don't deserve to be bombarded with them.

Oh apples..I know the commercials that you are talking about and they are heart wrenching. I can hardly stand to watch them myself. I think about them for hours sometimes after seeing them. I know they are trying to go for the shock value but it really does tear my heart out when I see it. I don't like seeing them although I know it is for a good cause.

I guess they figure the sad images with all those injured animals will give enough of a shock value/sad factor combo to make people feel more inclined to donate. Personally, every time one of those commercials come on, I have to change the channel or mute the TV until it's over. They're just so depressing!

Yes, I have been seeing those too! It makes me cry & my heart sinks every time. I know they need donations, but maybe they should start the commercial showing a cute happy pet with a boy or girl throwing a ball to them, or an older couple sitting on the couch or swing with their pet... then say not all pets have a happy home... and then show a few of the sad pictures... and then say 'wouldn't you like to help them be happy to? Please donate to help or perhaps go to your local humane society or shelter and adopt a dog or cat... give them a chance to find a happy home & live a happy life too." Then show one of the homeless animals getting picked out by a little boy or girl who gives them a big hug! That would get the point across, but not be a whole commercial of the really sad pictures. Maybe even show the father giving a donation of money or a big bag of dog food & a pet bed or blankets to the supervisor of the place, as a donation to help the rest there. That would show people ways they could help.

I know what you mean, it is very sad and heartbreaking to see such images before your eyes but it's the sad truth and they want to show people how these animals need your help so badly. I cry every time I see those commercials. How another so called human being can treat an animal that way is beyond comprehension. There are no words to describe how bad I feel for those poor creatures who have been abused. I'd like to treat those horrible nasty people the same way they treated the animals. I think they just don't know any better way, and they do need alot of help. I wish I could own a huge animal shelter and harbor them safely with all the attention and medical care they need.
