My Chinese Crested baby! Grooming questions... :)

I have the most wonderful puppy in the world! He is a Chinese Crested Powder Puff, totally white & only 8 lb. I got him in Dec. 2010 & the best thing I ever did! He is so smart and I've taught him 6 different tricks. I never knew about Chinese Crested Powder Puffs until I found him & I'm so glad I did! I take him to a good groomer who has been trimming his hair as it's growing to look like the pictures of the traditional CCPP, with the long hair. The hair on his ears though is getting very long like pictures I've seen before of others, but his hair seems to be pulling his ears down. He has always had naturally standing ears & so cute too! And the hair on top of his head is getting very long & comes over his eyes, so I sometimes put his hair up in a bow so he can see & so I can see his sweet little black eyes! His hair around his neck and chest is getting really long, like a nice mane. My question is, do any of you have a CCPP or experience grooming one? And what do you suggest I should do about his grooming? Should I trim his hair shorter on his ears? Should I trim his hair on his head & mane a little bit shorter. It sometimes gets wet when he drinks water. The hair on his body is about 5 to 5.5 inches long. Let me know if you have any thoughts on this, or about your own Chinese Crested! Thanks :)

I don't have any chinese crested. But some experience tips are good. Like maybe doctor? or professional groomer on the town! Haha I've seen much pictures and photos of chinese crested, and they usually have long hair. :)

I've seen pictures of them with their hair left long and then I've seen them with it cut shorter what they call a 'puppy cut' or a 'summer cut'. It's had to decide, but he is cute either way.

I really couldn't say since I have never attempted to groom my own dog, but she is part Poodle so she needs to be groomed every couple of months. At first I took her to a professional groomer but that was getting to be too costly so now my husband grooms her himself. I allow him to groom her the way he wants I only ask that I be able to see her cute, adorable puppy eyes & that he cut the fur shorter around her face, ears, & neck. If he doesn't then my dog has the same problem too with her fur getting into her water bowl every time she takes a drink.

I like seeing my puppy's eyes too! I tried grooming him but it was a little harder to do I think the blades on the clipper were not as sharp as they use to be, so I probably need to see if I can order a new part of it.
