Last year was a good year for soccer fans as most leagues became very competitive with smaller teams rising a level up and some of the bigger teams falling a level down. What is your New Year's wish as a soccer fan for the next year?
My wish is to see Arsenal win at least one trophy and to see the EPL title getting decided in the last week of action.
Cheers!

My wish is to see Manchester United winning the EPL. Other trophies are not so important for me except The Champions League but sadly MAN UTD is already out of it. The EPL crown is not easy to retain especially after yesterday's upset loss to Blackburn. I hope Sunderland can at least get a draw against MAN CITY tonight to make things easier. I wish to see England doing well in European Championship too. Spain, Germany, Holland and France are all hard to beat. But in football, anything can happen.

Because I am a fan of Bayern Munchen and the German national team, I will be more greedy than you are
I want Bayern to win all the trophies, because the Bundesliga and the German Cup are not so hard to be conquered, considering the gap between Bayern and the other competitors. The Champions League would be a dream and I guess that Bayern has the potential to win it, even if a lot of luck is needed to do so. I think that Bayern is the only team which can be at the same level as Barcelona and Real, and in a good day they can even knock them out. Maybe Bayern will avoid both of these teams and meet only one of them in the final, on home ground and then everything is possible.
As for the German national team, I think they will win the Euro 2012 for several reasons. They are the most constant team in Europe for the last 6-7 years, and I think that Spain has a certain "burn-out" regarding national team trophies. I really hope that I will have a magical year from this point of view and I wish you to see Arsenal lifting a trophy also, because they are the most honest team from the big teams in the EPL.

let me respond with your wish..and lets discuss after my respond..oke..
i believe that as long as Bayern munchen focus in the bundesliga, the trophy of the bundesliga can be got..i believe it..but don`t underestimate the ability of schalke04, bayern leverkusen and borrusia dortmund..three of them had capacity for stealing the good record of munchen in local league..
yes, in champions league, i only notice only few a club that had compete a giant club from spain like Madrid and Barcelona..few of club include Munchen..and the current of bayern munchen now is complete..now only hope the lucky i think..
and the national team?? german is good but only good is not enough for winning the titles i think...i predict that euro cup 2012 is belongs to Spain..

I don't underestimate the opponents of Bayern, but the quality gap between them is too high. If Bayern is concentrated, they have no rivals in Germany and only a few teams can cause them problems in Europe also.
The German national team is very good, not only good, they are close to fantastic. They have won all of their qualifying games and they have a vast area of players for every position in the national team. They have at least 4 wonderful goalies, and except the right side, every position has multiple backups.

I support several football teams, so I will list my wishes for each one.
Steaua Bucharest is my favourite local team (Romania), but I don't think they can win the tile this season. However, they are the only Romanian team to have qualified from the Europa League Group stage. They will play against FC Twente (Netherlands), and I hope they will go through and play as much as possible in this competition. It would be outstanding to reach the final, considering that teams like Manchester United and Manchester City are now playing in this competition. It would be an exceptional achievement especially since the 2012 Europa League final will be played in Bucharest.
FC Barcelona is my favourite Spanish team. They have a good chance of winning the Cup and La Liga, but they have to fight for every point, because they must surpass Real Madrid, a better team than the one they had last season.
Juventus Torino is on the first place in Serie A, after so many (too many) years away from the top Italian football. I think they can win the title this season.
Borussia Dortmund is fighting for the title in Germany, but it's a very tough fight, with Bayern Munchen, Schalke 04 and Borussia Munchengladbach very close on top of the Bundesliga tables, with only 3 points between them.
Manchester United seems to be my disappointment of the season, after failing to qualify for the next stage of the Champions League. They are only 3 points behind Manchester City, but the quality of their performance does not allow me to hope for something good... But who knows, maybe they will sow me I'm wrong and will the Europa League, The Premiership and the FA Cup... I wouldn't mind at all!

Barcelona seems to have a tough task in hand when it comes to winning the La Liga title this season. They are 5 points behind Real and it would be tough for them to catch up.
As far as Man U is concern, tomorrow is a big match against Arsenal. Also tomorrow Man City would be playing against Tottenham, so it could be interesting stuff tomorrow for the top of the table.
Cheers!

As a Manchester United fan, out of the Champions League is indeed the biggest disappointment of 2011 for me, not to say the manner they got eliminated. But in EPL, I feel we are in the hunt as much as our talk-active cousins across the street. As the injury crisis is easing up, I am confident that Manchester United will be more consistent and the pressure will eventually break Manchester City.

I would like to see Stoke City do well again and have another good cup run. It would be amazing to see them beat Valencia in the Europa cup .

I liked a comment made by Andrew Lecy of ESPN on Stoke. He said that an evil part of him wanted Barcelona to finish third in their Champions League and play in the UEFA Cup and draw to play Stoke in their round of 32. It would be a great spectacle to see one team that likes to play football and another team which refuses to play football on the pitch. :)
Anyhow I think they are a great element of the EPL jigsaw and may your New Year wish come true.
Cheers!

Regarding about the comment by Andrew Levy, if one team likes to play football and the other refuses to, then it will be a one sided football match with only 11 players "playing" and the other 11 players either reading a magazine, chatting in Facebook, killing demons in Diablo, or washing his car on the pitch. Yes, it will be a funny match with only one side playing.

I think this year they are in the running for the title. But for that to happen they would have to beat both Man City and Man United. If they do that they can make up the difference and move ahead of these two clubs. But something tells me that this would not happen. :(
Cheers!

I want Liverpool to make it to the top 4, and to finally play again in Champions League football next season. I also hope that we get to win one trophy - as we're still in the Carling Cup and FA Cup, I think that there's a legitimate chance that this may actually happen. I want Real Madrid to finally win Liga again, and maybe to win the 10th Champions League. I also want an intense title race for the Premier League - City, United and Spurs are pretty much neck and neck, and I hope it remains that way until the last week.
Lastly, I hope for an enjoyable Euro 2012 and Olympics.

I would also love to see that happen as I think Liverpool is one of the top clubs in the world. Sadly looking at the way they played yesterday, it is highly unlikely to happen in this season. They lack the creativity to score enough goals to reach the top 4. In the past 23 matches they have scored around 27 goals which simply is not good enough.
Cheers!

The game last night was pretty much horrible to watch. I really wanted to throw my laptop to the wall after the game - it was that bad. Yes, lack of finishing is definitely a huge problem for Liverpool this season, and I hope Kenny addresses that before the transfer season comes to a close. What's the use of dominating the game in possessions if you don't have the goals to back it up, right?
