I don't know if when you read you can see the picture in your mind, but the sign of a good book to me, is exactly that. "Fire and Ice" is one of those books. There are a lot of characters in the series to try to remember, but the major characters are truly described to make the reader visualize the person. It is a very long book but I find it holds my interest. If you have read it, what do you think? If you haven't, I recommend it. Happy New Year, the HBO series will be back with Book 2 in the series based on the books, but since I've read all the ones available, I doubt I'll watch it and spoil my vision.

I just finished reading A Dance with Dragons, and now I can't wait for the next book. I thought this one was a bit difficult to get into, so long, but it became better. And I was shocked about the deaths of some characters. When I read I always see the characters in my mind and I feel I know them.

I agree that sometimes the descriptions are such that I want it to hurry on and get to the meat of the book. But over and all, I haven't seen too many books the length of these that hold my attention as well. Glad you are enjoying it as much as I am. Sadly, my Nook is acting up, and I've not been able to read it for about a week. I'm having withdrawal symptoms!!!

There are so many books in the series and they are lengthy. I'm on the most current one, but I have a feeling there are more to come. I won't be watching the HBO productions, my visual in my mind makes me happy.

The actual books are much better than the television series that adapted them, I think. The series the first collection of books, was about 3,000 pages, and this last book is around 1,100 pages. Very detailed and very visual descriptions are presented to entice the reader's imagination. You learn to love some of the characters and dislike some of them too. The author is good at making the characters true to life. Glad you are enjoying the series.

Is 'The Game Of Thrones' seires is very good? I have not rrad any of tne book in this series. what this concern with? On which topic tne tne documents depend on? As you say the new book 'fire and ice' has alot of ingeresting characters, does these are magical or science fiction type. I haven't heard tne book who had written it? Accordind to you the word in the book are too powerful to seduce man. If it make a person visualises the character then the book must be very good. I had read many book but only of them able to make my mind feel the character inside me. This book must be interesting to read. If it is going to be on hbo i will have snap of it for sure. I will. Thanks for mentioning.

Thanks for the response. The series is basically medieval fantasy. It has knights, kings, dragons, giants, dwarfs, mammoths as war elephants, changelings, extremely large wolves, a type of zombie and a 700 foot wall used to keep bad things out of parts of the kingdom. It definitely stimulates the imagination.
