In the past we would go outside to count down and celebrate the new year. However, at present I prefer to stay at home and spend it with my family. It is cold outside. It seems to be less meaningful for me to count down outside. Staying at our cozy home is good enough for me. Is this a sign that I grow old?

No! Even when I was a teenager I preferred to ring in the New Year inside at home! all this means is you feel loved at home and you want to bring in the new year with love surrounding you.

Well, I guess that could be one sign of getting older but it could also mean that you have grown mature and have develop a different outlook in life. There were times when we think of only fun and the way we think of it is party, going out at night with friends. But as years go by, we get to know the meaning of life and the value of our spending quality time with the family. You may be growing old, but you are also becoming wiser each year.... Happy New Year!

I think this is a sign of growing older. We don't need to be stimulated with noise and activity and can just enjoy our family. Being cozy and warm is more important than being entertained out in the world.

I do not know if it has to do with getting old ,I think is more to do with getting smarter, and realizing that you do not have to go out to have fun,and if you do not go out,you did not miss anything. When you are young, usually feel that if you miss an outing, you got no life!!!! I remember my daughters being very upset,if the week end came and they had nothing planned!the end of the world. Now that they are adults, many times are happy to have a pleasant week-end at home with the loved ones,or their friends. It is all in your perspective!
Happy new Year to all!!!

hey, this can never be a sign of grow old, however you can say mature. mature would be the good word as we are more aware of the harmful affects of the cold out side.

The way I look at it is you get a much better view of the countdown to New Year watching it all on television, because you certainly wouldn't get such a good view down on the ground watching it from a crowd! We watched London countdown and the fireworks over the Thames it was stunning and quite spectacular, we watched it indoors with a drink in the warm! No it's not a sign of growing old, it's a sign of intelligence!

My daughter is a new year's eve baby so we always have her friends over. This year she was turning 15! When it got to be 11:50 p.m. all the kids ran in to watch the ball drop. Hubby and I sat outside around the fire, since it was cold outside. I even commented that I have seen the ball drop so many times, I didn't need to see it this year. We enjoyed watching the fire and then the fireworks that people in the neighborhood were setting off.

Hello you less.
I do not think so at all. One should always do what he is comfortable AT THE MOMENT no matter the age (okay maybe some exceptions apply, like drinking like a madman).
We have staid inside for the countdown but went outside after the chapmaign glass to see the fireworks in the distance for about 10 minutes I think. It was okay for all of us here, and there was me and my girlfriend (24 years old couple), there was her sister and boyfriend (about 31 years old couple) and their parents (about 55-57 years old) and we all enjoyed it just the same.

Yup!!! As we grow older, we are interested in different things. This New Year I was with my best friends in a terrace in the 21th floor of a building. We had a barbecue and everyone brought good things to eat. The city lights were awesome and we had view for the best fireworks of the city. Yet what was more important for me was the conversation. I have seen many fireworks in my life, yet I am still interested in what people say.

Definitely! You have growth older, when you are not interested or as excited as before on any type of celebration. Youngster will feel excited and wanted to join the crowd when there is celebration, they won't prefer to stay at home even when the weather is cold. So, that is really a sign that you are getting old.

No, not at all. ^_^ People that stays with their family or by themselves will be able to live longer from my opinion. Ever since I was 3 weeks old born in December 10, I always stay home every time the countdown begins and sometimes don't know what's going on. But being at a warm cozy home with friends or family to talk to is the present that we should all enjoy. =) Like I would say, a dog never forgets that memory of past, present, or future because that is my year animal to always have a blast from scenes earlier my life and never forget your dreams. ^^

Hello Youless. As a person gets older he or she has seen many new year eves and new year days. The young people like to party on new years eve. I did in my younger days. On the night on 31 December 1999 I went to London with friends. Many crowds were out that night and we saw lots of fireworks by the River Thames. Walking to the station was challenging with loads of broken glass and stuff to climb over. In my home country new year is in the cold winter. I prefer to stay at home and it wouldn't be easy to get a baby sitter if I did want to go out. It is not a sign of becoming old I believe just more sensible.

hi youless,
its a sign of more maturing because you have preferences and priorities. but being out and having fun on a new year's eve does not mean you are staying younger because by the age, you know for sure that you have added another number to your age.
if i were in manila, i would prefer to stay home as well. it is because fireworks will be all around and it will be dangerous to be outside the house. and there is the smog afterwards - a combination of smoke and fog, which is very bad for the health. and this does not mean am getting old - hehehehe! am just a homebody.
happy new year.

Everyone must pass the New Year, depending on what he like and above all according to his possibility.
For example, yesterday I went to the streets with my mother (note that perhaps I am a little old as I am 36 years old, with my mother!), And I must say that in my small way, I enjoyed it.
No matter how old or new is a tradition, what is important is to pass this festival in the best way, preferred by you.
This is what I think.

I don't think so.It is not so much getting old as getting sensible. When I was a child,I stayed up all night on New Year's Eve.Now no way should I do that.I know clearly it does harm to my health.

Maybe. A lot of oldies find the comforts of their homes as the place to getaway with all the noise of the new generation partying and celebrating. Some adults don't even bother to join such wild parties right? This means that you are slowly pulling away from the new generation and culture that is evolving. How old are you already? But maybe, such is also a sign of maturity and tranquility within oneself. Just to give you some perks of getting old for partying outside!
