Finding an idea for a game

I'm finally going to ask this as I'm out of ideas. I think some myLotters have an imagination wide enough to help me with this matter. I have been studying programming for a couple of years now, and I still am. I'm thinking of starting a small project, a game, that if is good enough I might sell. I'm still collecting team members and the project to start at about the same time as the summer vacation. Now I think we have enough expertise to make a good, but fairly simple game. The game is to be a 2D one. I'm not thinking of anything 3D as that is probably much more complicated than 2D. So, here's the thing. I need some ideas for the game, so I'm asking here. What do you think would be a good idea for a simple game? By simple I mean something like a puzzle game, but I'm looking for an original idea. A simple game but one that people would like to play, one that you would want to play. Here it is. I hope myLotters would be as imaginative as possible in responding to this discussion.
