Many of us that believe in God that if ur Religious, you are also spiritual. Let me tell you that it is completely WRONG .
"Religiosity is an outward form of worship. It doesn't affect the inward, non at all, while SPIRITUALITY starts from within. The SPIRIT and HEART and then, it affects the whole being of a Man "
We Must obey and do the Will of God in our lives, so that we can be an example to them, not just professing them, but fulfilling and obeying them .
"These people honor me with their lips, but their hearts are far away from me" Mathew 15:8 .

I am spiritual, but I do not worship God. As you said, people do assume that if a person is religious, they are also spiritual; but people also make the assumption that a person has to be religious or has believe in God to be spiritual. Both are untrue. I do not think that spirituality means worship of an external being, but rather recognizing the divinity within; of knowing ourself, beyond form.

You would find a commonality with the followers of Confucius and to an extent the teachings of Siddhartha Gautama. There are some religions that require no belief in a god or gods. There are almost no beliefs that can be described as spiritual that are not derived from some religious philosophy.

While I agree with you that there are many people who are religious but not spiritual I find people who claim to be spiritual without religion to be a bit silly.

WE are all Spiritual Beings in our true natures. Everything we do is Spiritual. We have so much sensory input from our senses that we are seduced into thinking this physical world is all there is. Look closely at people's actions. They all have orgins in the Spiritual simply because that is who we really are.
