Tetanus and drinking alcohol

I visited my grandparents today and my grandpa has got an antitetanic injection recently because he cut his arm very badly while working outside. As a celebration of the new year, a bottle of wine, champagne and several short drinks appearad on the table next to the enormous amount of food awaiting to be eaten. Well, grandpa likes drinking on a daily basis so his eyes kindled immediately. As he was reaching to the champagne and the jäger he was got at by my grandma that it's dangerous to drink right after getting an antitetanic injection and can even cause death. Then we listened to the story of her old neighbour who died in the same way. We didn't really know what to say so grandpa didn't drink anything today. Is this true, or is it complete nonsense? I don't think it can be true as most of the people getting such an injection are already drunk and doctors won't wait until the next day as tetanus is a serious disease and has to be taken care of as soon as possible.
