What was your worse job?

What is the worse job you have ever had? Was it the people you worked with or the customers or your boss? Do you feel you have learnt anything from having a terrible job? My worse job was a job I had as a waitress straight after I graduated. I just needed some money so during the day I was a waitress and I would go straight to work in a supermarket straight after where my job was to cash up all the tills at the end of the day. What made my job there so hard were my bosses. They constantly took the mick out of me for having a degree in drama and telling myself I was kidding myself if I thought I would get a career out of it. They always implied I was stupid, thick and ditsy and would laugh if I ever tried to voice an opinion. I got fired from there after they accused me of stealing money from the till. I was never so embarrassed in my life because it is not something that would ever cross my mind let alone for me to act on it. (Also I handled 10s of 1000s of pounds at my other job!) It turned out that a customer had gone in the till whilst my back was turned to make a coffee but did I get an apology? No! I was still fired because I should have been watching the till even though it was impossible to make drinks and watch it at the same time. I feel that looking back it's a good thing to get fired because I have the experience of it! I have got away from a place where people treated me like dirt and it's only a year later and I have a great career managing a theatre company which I might not have ended up with had I still been working there. I've also learned to stand up for myself a lot more and not to take it when people have an opinion of me that is just wrong.

I did some supply working at a primary school. The Reception teacher was ill and so I covered her class. I was friends with a Year Five teacher that had come from New Zealand. The school was in a poor, deprived and rough area. The manageress of the nursery went off on a secondment. The head teacher let me work in the Nursery when she wasn't there anymore. The children were quite challenging to handle. I was in the early years of my teaching career and I didn't like leading the team of nursery assistants. I wasn't ready to have my own office. I took on that position but hated it. Everyday I rang my teaching agency and asked them to find someone else to take on that awful position. They knew the head teacher wasn't very nice. The New Zealand lady left her job before she had to sign her teaching contract. The Year Five behavior was even worse than Reception or Nursery. I was so relieved when that job came to an end.

Gosh that sounds so stressful. I can't imagine the relief you must have felt once the job was over. It's such a shame that your agency wasn't able to help you out if they knew that you were having a tough time there.

For me, the worst job is when get a worst boss. The boss that have a motto "I don't want to hear any reason and any argue". That was the worst jobs on this planet.

That is truly a terrible motto to have. Everyone is wrong at some points and I think being a good boss is being able to know that you will make mistakes and finding a solution to them no just having a no argue I'm always right policy. I'm sorry you had to suffer through that!

The worst job I ever had was working in a convenience store. The district manager was, to put it mildly a real dog, and I didn't like her, nor did she like me. I was glad when I left that job, they fired me after a robbery.....years later I had a flashback when my manager told the district that she had never gone into the safe that night, when I clearly remembered her going into the safe. So I am convinced that she stole money that night and let me take the fall for it

That's terrible, a bit like what I was accused of but even worse if it was your boss! You are better off not having contact with people like that any more.
