I have got mouth ulcers and throat infection simultaneously. I immediately started my antibiotic course of medicine because this would flare up and I could recognise the symptoms well myself. As predicted I got high fever too.I am gargling with salt water and sesame oil apart from this . I keep drinking good warm water too.My fever has come down but the pain has not subsided.
Can you suggest some more home remedies that you know?

A while back I had a strong bout of flu which onset a severe throat infection I tried a few of those drops, and they seemed to help, things like Strepsil, Halls etc the pharmacist can recommend something that will not react with your medication. A home remedy I tried was onion skin tea - it sounds terrible, it was giving on a show at the time and I decided to try it - it helped me. I recommended it to my family, it did not work for them, so I can't say it works perfectly, but for me it took away the pain instantly. I do not know if it will damage your mouth ulcers though. The same applies to another remedy which is taking a spoonful of honey and let it slowly dissolve in your mouth.
I hope you get better soon.

The honey could be very soothing and healing. It kills germs and soothes sores.

For your throat infection you could boil a little cinnamon in water. Add some honey to it and drink it three or four times a day. Drink warm water with lemon and honey mixed with it. Drink as much water as possible. The cinnamon water without the honey could be used as a mouthwash for your mouth ulcers. Coconut milk mixed with honey applied to the gums is supposed to be good for mouth ulcers too. No harm in trying these as all the ingredients are available in the kitchen and nothing is harmful to us.

Whenever one takes antibiotics a multi vitamin is recommended and it is these antibiotics that cause ulcers in the mouth. You can apply glycerine on the ulcers.

Dear Kalav
Belated though, but I wish you a happy and healthy 2012.
I had severe issues with ulcers in the 1990s and I think they were mostly because of my eating habits (too much or only junk food or even smoking - I was a chain smoker in my college days). At home, we had the normal ones like salt and warm water for sore throats, and desi ghee (oil made from cows milk) for ulcers of the mouth. But as that was almost a slow process, one day I found "Smyle Mouth Ulcer Gel" - I used and stuck with it for years to come. Just apply the gel in the night before sleeping and the next morning, they were gone.

I dont remember much today about it... the only that I do most is its minty flavor that always tasted like the gel toothpastes or even the gel inside the centerfresh chewing gum. Reading your interest, I did try to find some information and the two places I looked out say that it is herbal, ayruvedic preparation - with zero side effects (maybe this is why nothing happened no matter how much of that I swalloed in).

Hello kalav,
This is a bit late as you are already over your infection but if you do not like really cold water or water too hot in your mouth then try chamomile flowers let them boil for two minutes if you have really hard water.
Let the flowers stand and strain them bit by bit.
Especially good if you have had low grade fever with lots of shivers coursing with it.
I alternate this with very mild amount of salted water as well. I did not have mouth ulcers but I got a high fever and tonsillitis. In two days the they had gone down and the earache as well but I did have a rough two days like I was floating on air as the fever went from high to low and then up again so in the end I had to give in to paracetamol which is always the most practical in the finish.xxx

Kala, I rarely take antibiotics. I mean once in six years or even less. Homeopathy is the best alternative to such things, with a little bit of help from Crocin I guess. I did have that problem a couple of weeks ago. The fever subsided overnight with some homeopathic medication and Crocin that dad brought. Honey is good I am told. But if you dont really like honey, and can withstand a little bit of pain, I would suggest taking hot tea with crushed ginger in it.

I've been suffering from sinusitis for a long time. It starts off with a throat pain, mild fever and then terrible headache. Homoeopathy was very effective once, but the next time I think, Mr sinusitis developed defence to it :P This time it didn't work n i had to take antibiotics :(

I had a bad throat infection just before Xmas. It felt like I had swallowed a heap of razor-blades! I bought some glycerin, honey and lemon linctus, which really soothed my throat and stopped all the coughing. I avoid antibiotics because after I have finished taking them I often find that my immune-system doesn't work efficiently for a few weeks.

Do not self medicate. Go to your doctor to check it.Having fever is a sign of infection. If the pain is still there maybe there are other reason. So it is better to consult the doctor.

Hi,
Gargling with salt and warm water is the best remedy for throat infection. Drink tea with ginger. Drink warm milk with turmeric powder. It is also a good medicine for the throat pain.
