The New Year's day Rose parade was on only one channel today, and they didn't show any of the horse entries. As usual there were many beautyful floats, and many wonderful bands, but no horses. We looked for another channel but couldn't find one. What a bad way to start the new year. For those that don't know, the Rose parade takes place in southern california each new year day except for Sunday, then it's on Monday. This is a parade where every thing entered in it that is not alive has to be covered in flowers and vegatables. It's a very old parade but one that is usually given much press. The entries come from all over the world, it's a long parade. about 5 miles and very well attended. I miss the horses, they were there the TV channel just chose not to show them. BOO

Infortunately, time restrains for the broadcast seem to determine what they show. I'm sure the general public is probably more interested in the floats than in the horses. I'm a lot like you, I like the animals as well. I've recorded it but not watched it yet. I'll have to pay attention and see exactly what the broadcast station chose. Last year, there were some cable channels and satellite channels that carried it separately with different moderators, but who knows, I only saw one broadcast even on my satellite provider.

I'm watching the coverage on the Hallmark Channel that I recorded and they show the horses. Simply beautiful!

This parade sounds interesting. Did not see it in any of the channels aired in my city. May be one day would get to see something like this on BBC where they sometimes show cultures of different countries.

Yes, Rose Parade is a very famous parade. I missed to watch it on the TV this year. I happened to be out-of-town this year at the time. I have been very impressed with the way the Parade has been organized and with the participants in the Parade.

They had a brief clip of it on fox news channel where they showed the horses actually. One of the horses fell down while they were showing it. Thank goodness the horse did get up and was fine.

I chose not to watch the parade. I watched it every year growing up, and watched how they made the floats, and listened to how many flowers and seeds were on it Somewhere along the line I lost interest in it. Its just a big parade before a football game. And unless I could see it live up close I really have no desire to sit at home and watch it on TV.
