I love vegetables that I can grow indoors and harvest for few days, I successfully grew Pea shoots and sunflower sprouts (1 of the best vegetables ever that you can harvest in 5 days)
I want to add some color in my salad,I was thinking of yellow. Popcorn shoots is basically grown sprouts of popcorn. This vegetables were kidn of popular in some Restaurants in europe and kind of expensive. but I am not buying them. I'm planning to grow on my own. I heard its grown the same way with sunflower sprouts, so I will try raising them now. I was very successful with sunflower sprouts that I usually harvest after 5 days. this vegetable can be grown in trays and plates with thin
layer of soil.
I just purchased some popcorn (not the cooked one) and I am planning to make them grow. I am planning to post pictures day by day of growing them.
day 1 is soaking in a Jar, so I guess no need for pictures of that. I want to share the day by day progress of this veggie until harvest day.
Most people who tasted it said its sweet and crunchy, it can also be added for smoothies cos its sweet and also be sauteed.
the picture below is a newly harvested popcorn shoots.

This sounds like a very good way to add fresh foods to your diet. I will find it interesting to follow your progress if I get the time.

If it were me I would just post the pictures when the look changes. So maybe when the roots come out.

I am not sure if I have to take pictures of day 2, cos there is no major changes with the corn kernels, they just look softer. should I post pictures of it for now or should I wait for the roots to come out first.

I canĀ“t wait to start my own sunflower sprouts production after I saw the video at Utube. It is amazing that you can have a veggie in your salad after 6 days.. Do tell us how the popcorn shoots came out. I planted yellow peppers this year for the touch of yellow. There are some flowers that can add colour too.

I grow my own shoots and sprouts, too! Just last week, I harvested some pea shoots. I really love them. I do some mung bean sprouts sometimes and one time, I did chickpeas (garbanzos). Oh, and sometimes I sprout my brown rice, too. Tastes better. I wish I could sprout other seeds, like sunflower, but I don't know where to buy the seeds. All I see at the supermarket are roasted ones. I'd like to sprout broccoli seeds, too. Most potent of them sprouts, I heard. I've read that popcorn shoots are sweet.

I will plant them in plates with soil once they have roots. then harvest in few days

oh you can buiy sunflower seeds as agrivets, You know those shops who sell chicken feeds. You can buy 1/4 kilo for 20 pesos. 2 teaspoons can give you 1/4 kilogram of sprouts.
