I was very dissapointed with this movie. I thought it was going to be a real prequel where he started to be a spy not already was a spy. I also thought they were going to have him be introduced to m and such. Now if they did that stuff during the movie then I would probally like it a lot more but because of that and the new james bond I didnt really care for it and its not on my top bond films.

I just watched this finally on Sunday and though it was ok it certainly wasnt one of the best Bond movies by any means...and the guy who played Bond this film just didnt seem to "fit" the role IMO....

Since I got that DVD as a gift, I think it's not a big deal to watch it even I don't really like 007. Just think that those kind of movie is not my favorite one. If I have to give rating to this "Casino Royale", I would probably give 7 for it.SO not that bad but also not that good.

I don't fancy it either. As I watched it, I seemed to be watching a rip-off of Hong Kong gambling movies. Daniel Craig is not very "James Bond" to me right from the start. It's quite forgetable.... can't remember much of it even right now.

First things first: Daniel Craig is a good Bond - maybe a little bit rougher, maybe less smooth than his predecessors but definitely a good Bond. However the movie is rather disappointing. The story-line is thin as rice paper: there is no real suspense. There are very good action scenes: car chases, stunningly beautiful women, shooting, running etc. but all these scenes are not held together by a coherent band of "suspense". Everything just falls into place by itself. It's like watching a collection of short animated features. Yes, of course the overall goal is to bring down evil LeChifre (Mads Mikkelsen is a great villain) but with its 140 minutes the movie drags along quite a bit. A rather painful exception is the scene when LeChifre tortures Bond: any men can understand how badly that would hurt. In synthesis I might say that Daniel Craig is one of the best Bonds ever (only second to Sean Connery) but the movie is one of the less interesting ones.

I cannot put it better myself. I totally agree with xsle84 !
I managed to watch the DVD during the weekend and found the action really good but the story wanting.
This is my take on the movie.
The action sequeces were good. Vey high impact with lots of adrenaline pumping scenes.
This new James Bond is really brutal when he handles the bad guys. No mercy. No feelings when he offs them. In fact, he seems to get off on it.
I was a little lost in the beginning of the show as the mission of 007 is not very clear. Unlike the previous bond movies, the mission is very well communicated tot he audience. It was only after Bond broke into M's apartment that I have a little idea of what his mission is about.
Comparing with the previous installments of the Bond saga, Royale Casino cannot hold a candle to any of them. Other than a high action pack movie, it does not bring about the mystery and suspense that the other movies has.
It is a kinda love and hate movie.
Love the movie enough to be willing to sit thru the whole show, hate it enough to not want to keep it.
I bought the DVD for the sake of completing the collection. Else, it is not worth it to buy and keep.
A movie to fill up that void during the weekend IMHO.

The movie is pretty good, but I don't think Craig fits the role to well, he can act like him somewhat but looks nothing like the other bonds.
