So a while ago I post about my plans to start a blog and in the past week I have been posting a fair bit! I am doing comparisons of books I have read and the films that are based on them. I would really appreciate a bit of feedback on my writing tone and style as I am not entirely sure if I have it write. Any kind of constructive criticism is welcome and I would love to check out your blog in return :)

Nice idea. Some constructive criticism:
The left sidebar is transparent: this makes it extremely difficult to see the labels when they're on the dark part of the background (blue on black is VERY hard to see).
The site is very wide: I use 1024x768 resolution and almost the entire right sidebar is off the screen. Sideways scrolling sucks (though quite why, I don't know - it's not like vertical scrolling was any easier before they introduced mouse wheels...).
You don't need the "blog", "books films" or "books" labels. Put those in the site meta: you repeat the words enough in the content for search engines to know what you're writing about.
You might be better off changing your labelling strategy to more of a "category" approach - the labels list is going to get VERY long very quickly. Perhaps something by decade of film (1950s, 1960s, etc.) or genre (romance, comedy, etc.). It's not a big deal, it's just that you're wasting the labels: people will search for things they want (and you have the film/book titles in your post titles, so that's covered) or will subscribe to the feed, so the labels don't need to have the film/book titles in them again.
The grammar geek in me says that "Comparisons of films and the books on which they were based" is correct but that's just me being obsessive.
Keep up the great work!

Thank you so much for the criticism this is exactly what I was after! I want to try and get things correct on it before I've written tons of posts. It's my first time seriously blogging so I'm still on a bit of a learning curve!
The tranparent bar has been annoying me as well but at the moment I can't work out how to change it
I will definitely sort out the wideness of the blog. I realised that I have a wide-screen laptop so what looks fine for me perhaps doesn't for anyone else. I may hijack my boyfriends computer to see how it read on there.
I like the ideas of categories for the labels, I may have to try that!
Thanks for the suggestion of the title! Something's been irking me about it but I couldn't think of a better phrasing!

Or even "upon which they were based" if you want to be REALLY obsessive about it.

It's very nice and clean, I like it. And I really like your concept, writing about film based on books and comaring those. What about comparing books based on films, just to give it a twist sometimes? Can't remember any in this category, but maybe there will pop one up sometime. I do have a blog, where I post dubstep music I find interesting http://dub24-7.blogspot.com/ but am considering deleting it, just don't have time for it. Then maybe start a new blog, about my thoughts about the society and whatever pops up in my head.

I will have to do some research to see if there are many books that are based on films but I think for the time being I have enough on my plate doing films based books! Thank you for checking out my blog, I don't listen really to dub step but perhaps through your blog I can get more into it!
