Is the tree down and decorations all stored for next year?

Right after I start this discussion I am going to take down my tree and put all the decorations away until next Nov. I really want to get everything put back in place but also I have a twinge of saddness taking down the tree. I thought about having my little granddaughter and myself make ornaments for Valentines day and just keep it up for a little bit longer....Have you taken down the tree? When do you normally do it? Are you a bit sad when you pack things up?

We didn't put up a tree this year. We do celebrate Christmas but generally at my brother's house so I don't bother putting up a tree. My back prevents me from standing for long periods so it's just easier to be lazy and take it easy. Hope you had a great holiday season.

We took down the tree yesterday. It was sad to see it go. All the pine needles were everywhere! I hate cleaning up those darn things! I miss all the holiday cheer. It's so sad that I'll have to wait until next year to set it all up again!

Yeah, I think that's one nice thing about Christmas...it gives life to the house because of the decorations.

Our tree will be up for probably 2 more weeks. I am hoping to take it down sooner. We first put it up right before Christmas. We haven't had any company so it is a sad reminder of that. But, have been trying to get a date where our son and his family can come for supper and a visit. They are busy with their lives so that has not happened as of yet. We normally leave the tree up till late in January. But, we usually have it up a few weeks before Christmas.

I started taking the ornaments off of our Christmas tree today. I had actually intended to do it earlier this week, but I was busy trying to make a little bit of extra money and also getting back into the swing of things with Kathryn going back to school. I really do have to admit that I feel really sad when it is time to take the Christmas tree down because of the fact that I really like the holiday season.

I will take the tree and decorations down on Epiphany, January 6th. This is when we usually took our tree and decoations down when I was a kid. I also like the idea of carrying the holiday spirit into January. We celebrate Epiphany by putting our shoes under the Christmas tree with grass and hay in them. The grass/hay is for the wise men's camels. They take the grass and leave little gifts in return. After tha, the tree can come down and I am ready to happily settle into the new year.

I have never heard of what you do....the little gifts and that is so cool~! Love the idea~!

It is something mom's side of family has always done. The tradition celebrates the wise men's journey. And of course, as kids joking about camels and donkeys leaving "something" in our shoes. 80) We usually give small toys, games, and a little candy. The gifts are small, but some of my favorites from childhood like silly putty, jacks, etc.

Hi jill! Our Christmas decorations are still up. We don't have any plans yet of taking them down. Maybe this coming weekend. We usually take them up after the day of Three Kings. It's always a little sad to take them down because it just means that the festivities are all finished. It's back to reality again.

Hi Jill! Yes, sad as it is, I did take my pretty little live Christmas tree down and put all the decorations away until next year. It makes such a soft glow in the evening along with my candles and "fake fireplace" and the smell of pine was awesome....just so comforting. I normally take it down after the holidays but this year I took the tree down right before New Years. It was up for a month and getting a bit too brittle, but it sure was beautiful. I still light all my candles though and turn on the fireplace through the winter months. I have this cute little artificial pine tree that's about 5' high with white lights on it.....hmmmm.....maybe I'll bring that back out in the living room just for giggles. I used it when my living room had a cabin or country type decor and it fit in quite well. I think your idea of making Valentine's day ornaments with your granddaughter and putting them on the tree would be adorable and so much fun! Then you can go on to do St. Patricks day and Easter ornaments too! Seeeee, your tree can be up for a long time.

I took my tree down last Thursday. Most years I can't wait to take it down, and I think once or twice I may have taken it down on Christmas day. I had my younger 4 kids so close together, that honestly this was the first time in probably 9 years that nobody messed with the tree and pulled down all the ornaments. Ever since the twins were born I've had young kids in the house who wouldn't leave it alone and would keep knocking down ornaments, and it drove me crazy. But this year my youngest is almost 4, and he really didn't touch the tree at all. The cats left it alone too, surprisingly, because it was a real tree. I thought forsure they'd want to play with it. They did last year, and last year we had an artificial tree.. and my cats actually climbed the darn thing! I would have left it up longer.. but it was dying and I was getting pine needles everywhere!

They do make a mess.....I have an artificial.....because it's too hard for me to haul a real tree without help. Still leaves a mess though~!

I have a big tree that is taking up so much space in our living room. Although I already want to take it down, I am waiting until the end of the 'feast of the 3 kings'. (Or this could just be another convenient excuse for me to have not taken it down yet). Maybe this weekend.

Yep almost as quickly(which is not that quickly at all), the tree has been put back into storage. A few days after Christmas it was done. It is a rather shame as this is really was a Christmas season that did not feel that much as such. There was joy, but really not that much. There were a lot of fun times granted, but it just seemed to not feel as much as Christmas. It is with great regret that another Christmas season has in fact to really pack away the things for the year. It is really just one of those things where there is a day to put everything up and a day to put everything away. A period of a month in between everything. It is a bit saddening but as quickly as life seems to go on, Christmas will be coming rather before long and the holidays will start anew.

Christmas Tree - Time to put it down!
I wish I could keep my Christmas tree standing all year through. It took me a lot of effort decorating this Christmas tree so I would have wanted to enjoy it the longer possible time. But it could not be possible. I had to set up a new motif around my home to start the New Year. Just like you I have to put it down along with all the other Christmas decors and keep them safely in a big box to be opened again next Christmas season. Indeed it is a bit sad to remove all these Christmas decorations. Nevertheless, there will no longer be excitement if Christmas is all year through. It will become very ordinary and people will no longer feel the special joy it brings if this is not celebrated in a particular month or two. So today I am also taking down my Christmas tree.

Our tree is taken down on the day 6th of January, that is the Three Kings Day, which is the catholic date here in my country to take down the tree. The date to build the tree is around 27 of november, don't remember for sure. Actually, I don't get sad anymore, when I was a kid it was more sad.

Trees and decors aren't down yet and it needs to stay in our house until Three kings. After the celebration of three kings on january 6 we need to take things out. Since my mom is so used to putting things up,maybe she will also have a great time packing things up so we can still use it next year. :-)
