I live about 25 miles from the nearest children's museum to me and some days I sure wish it was closer. I know that my daughter loves to go there, but it is expensive to get in. I would like to visit it more in the future but it all depends on how our money situation is.
Do you live near a town that has one and do you visit often? If so, what is the admission cost like at your local museum?

That could be the same type of place. I am not sure. Have you ever visited the Children's Club?

I just remembered...if you are a Bank of America customer...check with the bank as they have the offer of free admission to museums all over the country. Not alot, but maybe one in your area.

That is very interesting, but I am not a customer of that bank. I had some real problems with them and I won't bank with them anymore. Also, there are no branches of it near us so it made it impossible to handle things in a timely manner.

I closed mine out with Bank of America about 2 years ago when they started charging fees for checking accounts, fees for using the ATM and every time I'd go in, they'd blantantly try to push me to use the ATM instead of a teller. I kept saying "I'd rather use a teller" and they'd say "well let me show you how to use the ATM". I'd say, "I know how to use the ATM...I'd rather use a teller and help that poor girl keep her job"...They'd look at me like a calf looking at a new fence.

Hi carolscash, children's museum is a really a great place for young kids to learn new thing and enhance their knowledge It's rather pity that 25 miles away is not that convenient to visit it often. Even though it's very much better compared to areas that don't have museum for children.
I live in the outskirt of a small town. People here still considered to be lucky for there is a museum in the town, though it's not a children's museum. But there are countless of things available there for children to learn, to explore. My kids loved to visit it often during their childhood. Even it's free for visitor. Anyway children would reap many direct benefit from the museum visit often
Happy posting

Yeah, it's true that children love visiting Science Center instead of museum. There are countless of scientific things available in the center to fulfill their curiosity. Other than watching they could touch, try, experience themselves lots of them practically They can see how chicks are hatching from the eggs. Kids were really attracted by the authentic scene when a chick finally broke through the shell and struggled out of it. It's rather regrettable that the center is not near to our place. It's situated in our capital town. We have to take 4 hours or so to drive to the destination Thanks for the best response

There is a nice freelocal history museum that we go to, but for the most part their displays do not change and so it really doesn't interest us as much. I would like to see more free museums for us. They are a great educational tool and children need more hands on experiences to learn.

I live near a few...but the problem is...admission is rather pricy and for what is offered at the museum...just doesn't seem worth it! I mean, okay, go once...but to go again...just can't do it! I know things need money to run, but at the same time...as with anything else....when times are rough with money...you don't raise prices you lower them. If only 4 can afford to pay the admission price of $10, you only get those 4, but if you lower it to $5, you'll get those 4 and so many more! You'll get return visitors as well as new ones. I know I'd go and take my grand kids more often if the admission was lower. So see...they are loosing money due to high admission..therefore they are loosing money for the museum.

That is the problem with places near us too. The admission price is higher than we can afford to go more than once. I agree that if they would lower their prices, they would get more return visits or more visits altogether. I would like to go more often, but just can't afford it.

Local museum is quite far too here in our area so we just visit there once in awhile or sometimes once in a blue moon.It is quite expensive too today not like before due to some new attractions and some additional features that kids will really like and love to see.

It is sad that these places are not more family affordable as that would give many others opportunities to visit. I hope to see some of ours lower prices in the near future to help families who want to visit.

You don't have children in your country? That is interesting. Anyway, it is a museum with activities and displays that are geared to help children in learning about the world around them. They are great places to visit and share in your childs' learning experience.

I live in Melbourne Australia and we have a museum called Scienceworks, I am very much into photography and have been most of the museums here but I have never thought about going to this particular one thinking it is for kids, I might have to go and check it out and maybe I will get some good shots.

That sounds like a neat place to go. I live in the US so I don't see that I can go there, but there are some places like that around here. I might check into it someday soon.

We live about fifty miles from one and I have never been. I could not tell you the admission cost either. I think my kids went with the schools. We went to some other things they enjoyed a lot. Some free zoos and some membership zoos that make going much more affordable.

I am checking into membership costs for some local museums and stuff near us. I don't know of any free zoos around here, but that would be nice. I think that many places like this just cost too much money.

I love museums but I live a pretty good stretch away from one. There are Appalachian museums and a few small art museums in area. I don't go to them near as much as I would like. There is a Museum of Science and Energy in Oakridge...but that is a couple of hours away from me. They do charge. I think they charge around $15 a person.I know there is a pretty good sized art museum in Knoxville that I have been wanting to go to that is free but I have yet to get the chance to go.

Mosst museums are a distance for us too. I enjoy them when I do have the opportunity to go. I would like to visit some Appalachian museums as there is a lot of history in them. THe free art museum sounds neat. I had not thought about going to an art museum, I might check the one that is closest to us to see what admission is.

We live about 20 miles from the closest Children's Museum. The admission cost is $5.00 per person. We have to pay for children and adults. That seems a bit odd. We go once every 1-2 months during the school year. Over the summer, we try to go once a month. It is a small one, but it full of great exhibits, activities, and play areas for the kids. Between the water tables and the dirt pit with dinosaurs, truck, and shovels, we can spend hours at the museum.
Does your museum offer group discounts or memberships? That may save you some money. Also, I have noticed a Groupon coupon in the past for our children's museum. If you have a Groupon or similar site account check periodically for deals on your area museum. Happy New Year!

$5.00 admission is fabulous! Ours is like $17 for adults. I love the museum as well and there are great learning experiences to be had there, but it is just expensive to go. I had not thought about Groupon having coupons. Thanks for sharing that.
