I was listening to a radio DJ on my way home from work, talking about the Mechanic who was trying to scalp the DJ's wife over an annual service bill..They are now having the service done by someone charging half that rate..and just for fun,the DJ put on a Prank call from a Guy playing mechanic to a Woman whose car was in for a service, wanting to check on some other items they'd found to be wrong with her car before going ahead and fixing them..the stuff He was BS'ing her with was Jaw dropping..like Did She want Halogen or regular Fluid topped up in her headlights? Did She know her tyres had been fitted right for left and did she want them changed over? and He told her as the most important update that somebody must have stolen her transmission, and that he could fix her up a good price for the necessary forward AND reverse transmissions(!) and lastly,he offered to get her a free cigarette lighter socket..only $70 to fit it...these extra items were going to run her about $2400.. Do You enjoy hearing prank calls? Ever make them?

I've heard stuff like that on the radio, but I think its mean. I never made them tho I think my sister did. However, I did prank a prank caller once. This giggly girl called and, between giggles, asked if the refrigerator was running. I replied: "Yes, I was just chasing it when you called."

Hi ElicBxn, That's a good one! The giggly girl must have stopped giggling when she heard your response. Incidentally have you any suggestion on how to respond so creatively when one gets unwarranted calls like from telemarketers who wants to know whether you're insured or have financial plans or whatever. Normally I will say politely that I have no need for such a service but sometimes they can be so persistent and don't get the hint. What do you say?

Hi ShepherdSpy, On first read this sounds so ridiculous and even funny if I may add. But if you think further you begin to realise that such incidents do happen in real life to real people although the proposals or recommendations may not be as ridiculous as you have presented here. The people who fall for it are either gullible or too trusting so that they are easily conned. I guess one will have to learn to be wary so as not to become a victim of such schemes. Caveat emptor - Let the buyer beware! Have a nice day.

The Woman seemed to have not a clue about how daft the options were being given to her,but She managed to get it back some by saying at the end She'd need to check with her Dad about getting the money...
