Do you still have new year's resolutions?

It's a bit late to start this topic since 2012's already here but I just thought of this questions while responding to some discussions here in myLot. So, do you guys still make resolutions for the new year? If you did, what exactly do you want to do for this year? As for myself, I never really believed in new year's resolution :P Before, I always list them down and by the end of the year, I only complete less than 3 from the list and in some way, I feel depressed about it (not in a major way though). After those times, I decided to stop listing them and just go on with the mantra "A person can only change something if he/she REALLY wants to change it"

I practiced it before,... but not now. I just do whatever can make me happy without harming others *LOL... I think I got presssured then listing my new years resolutions... I've no motivations to make it happen. I just go with my friends resolutions listing... and asking... and to just have something to share... *pity me! I've change now *LOL... no listing, just doing!

Hi kei! Same here. I used to make new year's resolution but I end up not doing them so I stopped at some point of my life and never make any new year's resolution again. It's been like that for years but this year, on January 1, I felt like making a single new year's resolution. I haven't been going to church for long years, I did not even go during Christmas and on my last birthday. So I told myself I'd start going to church again, maybe not regularly, but I will do my best to go once in a while until I make it a habit. That's my single new year's resolution which I already started on the first day of the year.

Awww that's a worthwhile resolution. Truth to be told I'm also a Christian Agent XD Christian by name but I never really practice it. I rarely go to church :(

As you can see I'm not very religious, too but there are times that I find comfort in praying and even when I'm at church. I still believe though that we can pray anywhere, anytime and it doesn't have to be inside a church.

I agree with you. You don't need to find a right place to pray since you can do it anywhere as long as you pray whole-heartedly :)

I do the same as you do. I never make a list of what to achieve in a year. I am confident that if one wants to change his or her life, he or she should change it. Although I don't make a list, I always remember things I must do. This will make me work on the targeted track.

Exactly! For me resolutions are just like "reminders" but not all people follow them to a "T". It's like posting a note/list near you but always most of the time, you tend to forget to read the list :P

i used to make new year's resolution but like most people, i can't keep it. this year i didn't make any, why wait for the new year to make changes when everyday is an opportunity to change.

Exactly my point! If you want to change something and you had your heart on making that change, you'll do it without the list and you'll definitely not wait for new year :D

Before I always make a new year's resolutions but I always failed and now I forget about it because I feel I'm not ready to stop my smoking habit. So now I don't have one since that the problem I wanted to change but I always failed of quitting :D

No, I absolutely refuse to have anything to do with the nonsense that are i fact New Year's Resolutions. If I am going to do something, I'm just going to go out and do it. I'm not going to bother to wait until the New Year to do so. I'm going to really step right into the light and work for something that I want to accomplish, before, at or after the New Year. At one time, I've done New Year's Resolutions but I'll be honest, they rarely will get accomplished. When I make actual goals as opposed to half hearted resolutions that are made out of obligations for some foolish tradition, I am more likely to rather accomplish them to say the very least. The only resolution that people should be made is to not make any new year's resolutions and leave this foolishness in the outdated thinking bin where it belongs. Make goals, follow up on them but a new year's resolution is a poor man's substitute for actual progress.

Sames goes with me. If there's something you want to do/change and you had your heart set on it, there's no need for a list or wait for new year to accomplish it :)

I have new year's resolution written at the end of every year. But sadly not all of them go the way I want them to. But anyway this year one of my resolution is to try and complete my resolution. Like every year, I have a list of things I wanna change this year and things I wanna achieve, and I hope I get to do all of them

I decided to keep it simple this year. My New Year's resolution is to write more thank you notes. I really like receiving them and struggle when writing them. It is hard to come up with a nice note that expresses my appreciation, but does not sound formulaic. Hopes springs eternal.
