I feel like skipping school lately...

It's not just now...but ever since I was still a child. Imagine 20 years of trying to go to school every morning feeling heavy because you never want to go but you still go because it's your duty as a child to obey your parents...and getting high grades (thanks to my genes). Now, I'm in college yet...I still think that my society's current education system is lacking in more ways than one. Our education kills students' brain cells, creativity and imagination by merely focusing on putting more information and instruction into their heads just like brainwashing more than encouraging our brains to think. And now, they wish for students to perform greatly in class..."how..."(not pathetic but) "demanding of them"! Should I quit already? Yeah, it's a pity that I'm already a 3rd year(standing. I'm supposed to be in fourth year if not for me transferring the second semester to my current school) in college and studying under a BS course; But is my time and effort worth it if I only end up being an employee of a company who pays less than what my parents invested in school for my entire 20 years? In my opinion, NOT. What are your thoughts about this? Is going to school worth the effort? Or am I just wasting opportunity here? But I also feel I am wasting time and opportunity in earning and learning through the net by wasting my time in going to school...lol. I'm already confusing myself so maybe I'm confusing you as well. Before I end up going around the bush I better end this one and say: "Please be open with your ideas."

Me too SinfulRose, I never liked going to school and really hated it when winter came and I had to get up early, freezing most of the day unless I was fortunate enough to sit close to the heater. But I do encourage you to continue, because though you may not feel like you are learning, you are getting something and having that degree can make an impression on a future employer.

Have you ever thought of NOT working under an employer after you finish schooling? I wonder how many people have thought "they will be employed someday" this time already...I know it's more than the millionth time I heard of "being employed in the future" thoughts...

Sure, I'd love for my story to not only become a best seller, but that my other story ideas would also make me financially independent. But I also know that if it doesn't work out, having a degree will help me get a job I am looking into, a para-professional. I found out through a daughter on a principal of one of the local schools, that though a para doesn't have to have a degree, his school tends to hire one if he or she has it, because they can double as a substitute teacher.

Is degree course really that good compared to a vocational course? I really need to start a discussion on this one issue in our educational and economic society. lolz

Well, you should continue, especially your in the 3rd year of your college. few years to go and you'll gonna graduate .. so, better pick up the slack and go to school . It depends upon your choice, your future depends on it . If you'll gonna stop, well goodluck for you . Do not just think for yourself, but think about the COSTS of your parents just for you to go to school, and money isn't picked anywhere, it was hardly worked by your parents . Many people now a days really try their best to go to school , but you, you have the opportunity but ur just spoiling it . I'm sorry to say but, ur just making your parents worthless , they send you to school and they spend a LOT , LOT , money . They want you to go to school cuz they want you to be SUCCESSFUL in the Future. Please take this seriously. I feel sad not to you, but your parents .

Is that really okay to say that to someone you don't know? lolz Yeah, I understand your feeling. I myself feels like that some time ago whenever I hear someone stopped schooling because they just suddenly feels like it. And nope, I am not wasting my parent's money just by slacking. I may not be in school and I'm just only staying in front of my laptop but I am doing projects that needs time and thinking and a good environment to finish to be submitted on time. Though I may not be in school, I am programming a project given by a certain subject that needs more focus than what I can give whenever I go to school. Think about going up early in the morning (4:30 am) to go to your first class(1 hour commute from home), go home to do your project but you still have to memorize (nope, I don't know how to study. Do you know how to study without memorizing?) your lessons for your next class which happens to be at 6:00 in the evening and ends at 8:30 pm. You still have to commute back (I usually get home at 10 pm due to traffic) and fort because you have no car or motorcycle then you still have to go back to programming and later studying again for your next day's class (I still have to get up at 4:30 am). I'm cutting sleep but I can't afford to increase my stress levels anymore than what I'm doing or I'll have to suffer dire consequences. With the way our educational system runs in our present society of killing students' brain cells by frequently putting, putting and putting information and maximizing the stress they give, I won't be surprised if our life span would shorten from 50 to 30 years old which by the way is supposed to be and originally longer than 90 or 100 years before technology...

By the way, hon, what's your purpose in going to school?

Frankly, what's confusing you right now is your ability to earn despite studying. Such confusion is also experienced generally by working students. Nonetheless, think again... You are having doubts whether your time and effort are worth if you only end up being an employee of a company who pays less than what your parents invested for your education. That's basically the reason why you need to finish your studies-- because you would not want to experience the same predicament common employees are into. And that's what made me move on and finish my collegiate course despite the fact that taking this course was imposed by my mother. After graduation, I also took the licensure examination so that I won't be just a common employee but someone who can take on a more responsible corporate position. Even if you plan to venture into a personal business, you need the academic preparedness to transact and negotiate professionally.

I'm an Information Technology student. Yet I don't want to be under ANY sort of company or build my own business. I'm the type who could not last long doing what I did yesterday I will be doing today or next week or the next year. Yes, I can free lance as a hobby but...even though I am studying under that course, what I'm going to be doing as a "job" is entirely unrelated to what I've learned from school and under that course... I merely took it to know what I need to know and I already got it. And from what I've learned on society so far, it was never taught in school. Transactions and negotiations are never my forte in the first place...and sadly, I have no intention to be under those situation too...though I know I will be someday... or eventually, I just hope not that often. I'm just having the feeling "I already got what I need. I'm in a rush, so why stay?". I wish I can survive til next year if I still can move then...lol
