Good Lesson taught to Australian selectors

Before India's tour to Australia, lot of pressure was put on Australian selectors to drop aged players like Ponting and Hussey like M Katich. I am happy that Hussey and Ponting silenced their critics with their great knocks in MCG and SCG. It is hard to get a great players like Ponting and Hussey. There is lot of cricket is left in them and why selectors are pressurizing them. When these players feel cricket is boring sport then they will retire gracefully. Why to force them to retire. In my view Hussey is Mr Consistent and it is unfortunate that player like him has to save his place.. This is what missing in Indian team for years no young player challenges the likes of Dravid or Laxman in test cricket. What are your views friends

I am not sure why they should be taught a lesson. In fact, they should be congratulated for keeping faith in Ponting and Hussey. They were under pressure from all quarters and it was heavy pressure for the selectors. Hence I would say that they should be congratulated for this confidence.

Well ram, Australia selectors removed S Katich who too was very consistent because of his age. Selectors were even in mood to drop Ponting and Hussey but external pressure and Australian former players support these two players. That is why they withdrew that idea. They have taught the selectors that aged players too can play well.

yes, its true that Ponting and Hussey played good cricket but I think, its also there good luck they are playing in the Australia. I am not sure if Ponting and Hussey can manage spin bowling in Asian pitches as they are facing the problem to play against good spin bowlers in there golden years. Similarly the Indian batsman Dravid and Laxman facing problem to play in Australia.
Hope we can watch some close one days matches at least in Australia because test matches seems to be in Ausis camp now..

Well Linux, they were number of times Hussey has saved Australia. Take the MCG test, in both innings he was hurdle for Indian bowlers. Whereas other batsmen of Australia struggled in MCG. Even if Australia tour India right now, Hussey wicket is not that easy to take. Ponting might have lost his past aggressiveness but Hussey is still a good competitor for younger players..Australia never had bad series in India compared to India having bad series in Australia. What I do not like in cricket is that most of the Asian test playing nations do not change their pitches to a good sporting one. Due to this teams like Pakistan, India, Bangladesh and Sri Lanka struggle when they tour nations like England, South Africa and Australia. Whereas Australia, South Africa and England quickly adopt to Indian pitches. I have never seen India clean sweeping England, Australia and South Africa in India in tests..

my view is no one is above the game except for one man.lol.he wont play any odi cricket for a year but his opening spot is reserved for the world cup team.
anyway the point is both hussey and ponting are in their late 30's.
usually during this time,selectors look for younger blood and at the same time watch for any sign of weariness setting on the old guys.
no ton for almost 23 months created a lot of pressure on ponting considering he was actually in the race to get near tendulkar in hundreds.
but then again,even after such good knocks,i am pretty sure that australian selectors wont take it serious.
well cmon.eventhough he hit a century ,it is against a team which struggles to win back to back test matches in this country.
now if he did it touring south africa or england,then its worth loking but untill then NO.
when watson,harris comeback,these guys will be on the top to get out.
they played well for years and fans will respect them for their service .now time to hang the boots.

correct, the selectors have done a good job they know what is best and they are able do so. see what they have done india is in no way to win a single game. ricky and hussey and show why they deserve places...cheers
