I remember someone here says he dont remember things any moment on his life below 10 years old. which weird.... cos I remember things from when I was 3 years old. I even remember what my house looks like when I was 3. I remember the TV shows I watch when I was 3. I still remember the feeling of being lifted by an adult,I still remember the address my family lives in when I was 3. I still remember my Kindergarten teachers and classmates and my former neighbors. Usually people have childhood memories from when they were 6. but yeah they seemed to fully forget things.

usually people have most memories of their teens. Its not necessary but some psychologist can actually restore deleted memories and delete memories you want to forget.

wow, you have a very good memory. Lucky for you. But as for me, Im one of those people who quite fully forget their memory when they were below age 10. I don't really remember every details that happened to me. I just remember some things, but not fully remembering them. If i knew how to write some diary before, i could have so that i would still remember things i did before. And i think until now, I still have some troubles in my memory. That's why i write them. So i won't forget things.

I bet you forgot some things in your teens do, Maybe you should try to rewatch some Tv shows you watched in your childhood, to bring back some deleted memories, Just in case you are interested to retain them but for sure its not necessary and looking looking forward for the future is better.

I think there are people who have more childhood memories than Highschool memories cos Highschool is painful. If I have selective amnesia I will try to forget some highschool events. sadly I cant.

Yes absolutely, i forgot some of my teen memories, especially when i was in highschool. I don't know maybe because i said to myself that i don't want to remember some things. Thanks for your advice, That also works, when i watch tv shows that i've been watching before i sometimes remember things in the past.

I think today people's pressure is so high. They have no time to memorize the past. They have to look forward to the future. They have many things to concern about at present and future. So they don't have the time to think about the past. As time goes by, our childhood memories will be unclear and then it will be gone. This is why we need to take photos and videos to help us to remember the past:)

Most people though cared more about the present rather than the future cos you know if people are more future minded less people are living in poverty by now.

One of the major reasons for lose in memory can be trauma. The other reason can be a brain injury. It is not all that uncommon for people to forget things from their childhood. I was a very ill child and many of my memories are sketchy and some totally missing that other family members tell me about. Asthmatics suffer a lot from memory loss because of the oxygen levels that sometimes are interrupted due to their illness. I'm sure there are other illness that can cause it also. Some medications can have memory loss as a side effect. When I had brain surgery, they were very sure I'd have short term memory loss, and they are right. I do. Hope that helps you understand the so called phenomena. Thanks for the discussion.

I remember one incident when I was 4 years old. Then my memory picks up again in a different location when I was 6 years old. It was on and off after that because of sickness. But to remember everything, I cannot. I'm sure there are those that can, but I'm not one of them.

By far what is your youngest childhood memories, You can remember since you were___? I think majority of people usually forget memories from 1 to 6 years old. i heard before there is a woman who remembers everything from she is 1 year old.

that's actually great that you still remember, this is probably because you had great childhood memories. while your friend might have bad childhood memories. this is what you call selective amnesia. some people intentionally or unintentionally forget things or events from their past that are very distressing to them. I can still also remember childhood memories, some good and some bad. but since they are not very distressing to me i keep them in my memory

how I wish I can have selective amnesia to a certain point in my life but I cant forget it,. sometimesI talk to some childhood friends and when I ask "do you remember when we..." they will reply like "you still remember that?" "are you sure that happened"
I remember when I was around 7, my sister is bit by a cat fish, I just asked her about it recent in facebook, she denied it happened and never remember it at all.

that's so funny, you made me laugh! it was a bad memory for your sister that is why i guess it was blocked from her consciousness. meanwhile, i think you've got great childhood memories because you still remember! that's great! or simply you've got a great memory :)that's an advantage in life.

during schooldays we were forced to memorize things, so to memorize those things, we have to delete certain space in our brain,.

I can remember some things from when I was three, and some from ages older than that. I may remember a little bit before I turned three. Maybe they had such a boring life they do not want to remember what happened when they were little.

I remember some moments of my life when i was 3 years old and i also fondly remember my first day at school. I think the wonderful memories in our lives just don't fade away from our mind.

Because they had a bad child hood or something happened to them that their mind has shut out. Something I can relate to. Like someone said about "selective amnesia". My memories are in bits and pieces and very foggy. I wouldn't want to remember the things my family tells me about it.

When you're old and gone through many phases of life, in order for you to ive full is to eliminate much of the baggage s that belong to the past. Most adults do this in order to be fully connected to the present. It is a selective memory that help them live as normal as they could. You must be young now, things would change when years have been added in your life. Don't expect people to remember what you remember because they may have closed that part of their life and would not want to remember. Or some really have poor memories and there's really no significant things to remember.

I always move forward for the future, though I dont throw away memories of the past as a baggage. But i guess my case is rare, Majortiy of people have that so called selective amnesia. LOL I recognized a highschool classmate and she didnt recognized me not remember me while my appearance didnt change...
I even have a cousin who I always play with in childhood who doesnt know me anymore...LOL

Hello,
Sometimes people wants to forget the memories when they are still kids. Maybe they have a reason here and they dont want to talk it anymore. I studied it in psychology and our professor explain it to us. Yeah, me too i can still remember what you remember except all the name of my neighboor.

It seemed like people like me who still remember some early childhood details are some sort of a rare case. I am actually not selective of my memories.things just randomly comes back.

Hmmm...Maybe because there is not much for him to remember during thos time of his years! Anyways, I think people tend to forget their childhood due to the type of society we are in. This society now is very harsh and is moving fast. People tend to live by adjusting to the growing changes and demands of the world that they don't have the time to think of happy memories anymore. People are more inclined to succeed in this fast changing time, making them more focused on working out their goals and looking into the future. Hence, they are forgetting the past in the process. What do you think? Is my explanation sensible enough? Just my two cents!

You know what is funnier, adults being annoyed by kids doing things they used to do but they dont remember their selves doing such things. I think even little kids forget stuff they did just few years ago. Thats how fast the human brain forget things. I think most of us dont remember what is our lunch last week

those to forgots easily seems to be suffering from "short term memory loss" as life is too small so how can they forgot the normal icidents. hey, like you i too remember the childhood memories as they are sweet. those games which i played, those innocent talks how can anyone forgot. to my opinion its depends on the person enviroment for his memory.
