Me? I am, I always find it that im secured if I follow a recipe in baking I feel comfortable doing it with one.I like to arrange all the ingredients(from first to be used to the last to be added) so that i wont mess up.I always find baking as a science experiment rather than a care free work of art like cooking, I always see to it that the ingredients are in the proper proportion and temperature. I would rather be strict, precise, and scientific (i become insanely quiet and serious when i start to bake) than to be spontaneously fast like cooks with there flamboyant movements or should i say eye-catching techniques(flambe anyone?). Are you methodical when it comes to baking and rely on a recipe? or you also treat it like cooking?

Honestly, I love cooking and I love baking. Since I enjoy them both so much I treat baking like cooking. I do make sure that I have all the ingredients on hand before I begin making anything, but especially in baking. Also, I measure out my ingredients very carefully when baking as that is extremely important for baking. Have a great day and happy myLotting!!!

Baking and cooking are two almost entirely different things when it comes to method. Of course there are the obvious similarities like measurements, heating and timing. But when it comes to cooking you can definitely take more liberties in just "eyeing" the measurements of ingredients and time. Baking, on the other hand, like you said is more like a science experiment wherein you have to be precise of almost all the elements. This is why some cooks and chefs prefer to stay away from baking, and bakers vice-versa. Cooking I should say is a more free form type of art and while it requires a lot of discipline, it might not be the same type of discipline you can just abruptly apply to baking. Though both are equally very relaxing activities in my book.

I never thought of cooking or baking that way. I like to add things like herbs and spices and make the base recipe my own. I do know that certain ingredients need to be of a certain amount so I do do that. I like to experiment and make it my own. It is more interesting that way.

I am not a methodical baker. I like to get all the ingredients out that I will need. As I am getting older, maybe I should put the ingredients in order of the way they should be used. One definitely doesn't want to leave out an ingredient.

I only bake those cakes that started having a recipe many decades ago but now I can do it by heart. The measurements are aproximate and the flavors depend on what I have at hand. I´m a messy cook, but I clean up afterwards.

doing things in a proper defined and symmetric order make the result more beautiful. and when is come to make something in the kitchen we have to follow a specific chart in order to make good food. the list of ingradient must be in defined proportion and quantity so the baked food will be at its best. as i am defining so does not mean i follow the same beacause i am very bad in baking and learned these things through some magzines
