hi lampar! The public holiday for every government and private employee to take off is 7 days, from 30th December to 6th January on Chinese Calender. But we students really have a long holiday. We all celebrate by the way you said, but there are more details.we would visit some relatives and fiends during the spring festival, and some relatives and friends would visit us too.as for this,it's interesting that we only visit mother's relatives on appointed day and stay at home waiting to be visit by women who lived with us before they got married and their families.eh it's hard to express it fully, and I hope you understand what I mean,my friend.

Hi Leoshuaige, though I'm not from China, we chinese here still welcome chinese new year in great pleasant. Yeah, it's only two weeks or so to go before this grand festival. We are busy with the cleaning and dumping away those old stuffs which are no longer work well. Besides some are preparing festive cookies and starting to decorate the house and the yard with new year ornaments which are normally red in color to start a brand new year with days full of joy, health and wealth, etc . We believe red are fortunate as well as propitious color to welcome our brand NCY.
Majority of the Chinese people here tend to get married few months before the arrival of dragon year so that they could give birth to dragon baby They believe deeply that kid born in dragon year is the best among the twelve. He is bright, fortunate and would bring good luck and prosperity to the family.
I'm glad that you could have family reunion during CNY holiday. Our elderly are always long to celebrate this grand festive occasion together with their loved and close respective children
Happy CNY in advance
