Did You Have A Roommate?

I'm a little hesitant. Not that they seem mean or anything. I just, never had roommates before and they've been friends for a few years so in a way, I feel like I'm butting in by being shoved in there mid year.
Did you have any roommates? If so, how were they?

Back to my college years, that is the best part of it. The roommates! They are people whom we get to know first than the classmates!! I love them and now I miss them so much. I do have certain years when I shared room with my seniors but they are so nice! Just get along with them and don't be hesitate to be with them. Good luck!(^^)

That's what I felt when I was first time get there and meet them. I thought they will not go along with me but fortunately they are awesome and nice sisters. Imagine if I got the one who can't get along with me? That would stress me out! Like the one my sister has right now.(^^)

That's good for you! I hope we become good friends too, even though we run in different circles.
I feel bad that your sister wasn't as lucky.

I will try not to hesitate. I'm excited, but nervous as well. I hope we become good friends.

I had a roommate when I was living in Italy. I liked her from the start, but in the beginning it was very difficult for us to communicate. She didn't speak English and I didn't speak much Italian. During the time that I spent in Italy I went to language school and when I got better at Italian it became much easier to talk to my roommate. We became very good friends. She knew the area very well and she showed me the famous sights, the best shops, cafees etc and we enjoyed talking and spending time together.

That is such a cool experience. Imagine if you didn't understand Italian! You would have never gotten to know her!

No I do not have a roommate. I would go crazy if I had to have one! I lived with 2 men in the past and after those experiences I never will live with another person! I have no privacy living with someone! One guy I lived with didn't want to help pay the bills until I nagged relentless until he did! I have trouble trusting people as it is so that is another point why I don't want to ever have a roommate!
I never went to college so I never had to the experienced having to share a room on a campus. I know it can be fun and in some cases a disaster! It just depends on the roommate! Working at a college I hear the bad and good side of having to have a roommate or roommates!

That's exactly why part of me is scared. I'm more excited than nervous because they seem nice. But you never know what you'll end up with. After watching the movie, The roomate, I was freaked out.

I think you're talking about being in school, and in dormitory, and given a room mate...
Yes I did. Although me and my first room mate back then ran in different circles, we actually became good friends. He even helped me out when I got sick.
You never know. It's a roll of the dice. Although you could get lucky and get someone really nice, it could also go the other way.
Goodluck!

Hi Stephanie Ann C: I haven't. Sometimes I have share my house with some friends and I have also come and visit some friends and my conclusion is that you have to think more than once about the convenience of this decision because you will lose part of your privacy living with someone else and also you have to evaluate if you can live together with this person, if you are good friends and you have things in common so you won't have problems later and that you will tolerate his/ her behaviour.

I didn't have a choice. I was given roommates to live with in college. I hope all goes well too.

I live with people and/or by myself. I like the idea of living with people because I'm very communally oriented. I've never been much of a solo kind of girl, socially. Just make sure you have the same "house rules" (i.e, smoking or communal food) before you move in.

I'm quite social myself, but sometimes I do like to be alone.
We did talk about a few things already, but I will make sure to bring up smoking and such. Thanks!

I currently have 3 roommates. I also had some roommates in college, one time I was the one coming in after the winter break (the 4th had gotten married.)
The 3 girls were from Waco and were... from a country western type small town and I was the "hippy" from the big city... but guess who was the ONLY one who had actually RIDDEN a horse?

I have had several room mates but they were always female with benifits. I got along with them greatly. The reason that any of them broke up the room mate situation is that they found new places to move to ie long distances to go to work, or I might have tried to presuade any of them to stay but with their work too far to travel each day, they had to find places closer to their work.

Hello StephanieAnnC,
Yes i had the room mates during college days and they turned out to be the best friends in college days.
When i started doing job i had to live far away from my house around 75 kms away from there and there was one room mate which used to share house with me there.Though he was a stranger to me but he was one of the friend of my collegue but now when we are not still the room mates but after 12~15 years we are very closed and often talk to each other and try to help each other in the ways we can.
