McDonald's is Cheap!

First I have to say I'm not into fastfood on a regular basis and MCDONALS IS THE LAST PLACE I WOULD EAT. In fact I'm proud to say I have never had their hambugers. Anyway yesterday on the way home from clothes shopping my granddaughter wanted mcdonalds so my son-in-law pulled into the drive thru and ordered. My granddaughter wanted extra ranch dressing and they said it will be an extra 15 cents per ranch dressing. Thoses little 2x4 containers. I was in shock! We all said a multimillion dollar company is charging for condiments. Give me a break. I told my daughter and son-in-law that I would boycott mcdonalds because that is ridulous. So it cost them an extra 30 cents for two more ranch dressing. Me personally would have said oh forget I will go somewhere else to get my food. In fact my granddaughter brought the food home it was a happy meal of nuggets and fries. She ate all the fries and three of the six nuggets were either pink inside or fatty. So how good is mcdonalds anyway?? Do you eat there and did you know of the extra charges for extra condiments?

Hi lelin,
About two weeks ago, we went to visit our relative. On our way my daughter ask for food so we drop by a Mc Donald's drive thru.As we are ordering, every name of the food i ordered is out of stock and not available. It is 9 in the morning and they haven't cook anything yet and did not check on their stock.Evrytime the cashier punches our order a man from inside will come and tell us "its not available"
Until we are force to have an egg sandwich for the three of us.
My daughter told me that same instant "Ma, next time please don't drop by any Mc Donalds for food, they don't have anything and this egg sandwich really is not delicious"
That is her first and i know that will be her last.

They are cheap for sure. I knew there were a lot of place charging for extra condiments but I didn't know McDonald's was one of them. They make enough money to afford a condiment or two. I wouldn't have got the extra if I had to pay for it either. I usually have the things I like on the side at home anyway.
McDonald's is not a place I go often at all. My daughter loves those nasty chicken nuggets and I can't figure it out to save the life of me.

Well I think after my granddaughters last experience there she will not want to eat there either. I'm just in shock that a company that is worldwide can't afford to give the condiments away. That is what corporate america is all about though "greed." I have to see when I get back home to Puerto Rico if they are doing the same thing there. By the way I was checking the amount of calories, fat and sodium in thoses nuggets. A six piece nugget equals 540 miligrams of sodium, the fat was 18 grams and if you add the french fries its alot more. I believe the caloris were 380. Horrible for a child to intake in my opinion.

It doesn't surprise me that McDonald's charges more for extra condiments. I go to McDonald's every so often and depending on the location I do pay extra. Some locations are different, and if you deal with franchises vs. company stores the experience and price can be VERY different. If you have kids there is no avoiding the draw of the toys in happy meals, my step son tells me all the time that he wants to eat at one place or another based totally on the toys.

I heard that there is talk about them wanting to start charging for the happy meals. If that happens I'm sure people will stop going with their kids.

My entire family seems to love Mcdonalds and last week were we traveling and every stop they make is to a mcdonalds. I had a very hard time eating and wold only ever eat a half of a burger and maybe two chikcen nuggets deciding on whta i was going to eat. Its hard for to eat there food it doesnt do well with me at all and i just cant seem to like it at all. I would rather eat at Burger King more than any other fast food out there because it tastes so much b etter and seems to much healthier for you in the long run.
I can agree with you that i cant believe they charge for having extra condiments when you go to the window the second window that is when you ask for the condiments because then they dont charge you for it at all. Its more like common sense more than anything. I guess im the only one that thinks like that. hopefully she liked her food and thats all there it. So many people like mcdonalds and im sure it will always be around.

Yes unfortunately many people love this place and that is another reason for the obesity problem in America.

It depends on the McDonalds you go to. Some of them have been known to add an extra piece of tomato to your Mc Chicken for free but some charge an extra 20 to 25 cents. I've also been told that some of them charge you for a cup of water. Overall, I do like their food, but you'll find that other fast food restaurants typically treat you more nicely.

I agree, Wendy's food is much better and healthier. Plus they treat you so much better.

Watch the pennies and the dollars will take care of themselves. That is good philosophy and one that helped make MacDonald's the success that it is! Think about it--those little sauce containers probably cost at least 5¢ each or maybe less. But they have to pay the employees, the utility bills, maintenance on the machines, lease on the property, insurance, etc. Those few pennies of profit, multiplied by thousands per day of people that request the containers, help pay the expenses of running the business.
I haven't eaten at MacDonald's for years! Although I love the food I know it is very, very bad for me. I can't be sure it's all cooked properly (as evidenced by the undercooked chicken nuggets you mentioned!) and I know it's made with the cheapest possible ingredients. I'm quite sure the hamburger has all sorts of body parts in it that I would not eat by choice!
If they were bringing the food home they should have used the Ranch salad dressing that they may have in the fridge. That's what I would do if I absolutely had to eat at a fast food restaurant. I prefer to make my own food at home even though fast food is so wonderfully delicious!

OMG how horrible for you. I can't imagine anyone going back to that mcdonalds even after getting rid of the tainted hamburgers. That makes me not want to ever go to fast food places again. I don't go offen but now I'm rethinking of ever going again.

Yes they do charge for extra condiments except catchup I think. It is really quite sad to note this considering the fact that these condiments even extra ones should be for free unless a customer is asking excessively.
Well Mcdonalds is not actually a healthy place to it. Their Mcspaghetti is tastes too sour for me and most of their food are rich sources of cholesterol actually and people know this. Nevertheless, they keep going and patronizing Mcdonalds and the likes.

I wonder what magic has Mcdo! As I said to me their Spaghetti tastes too sour but the kids still love ordering the Spaghetti just the same. But in most cases they can't finish an order so I'd be forced to eat all the leftovers. Poor me!

Hiya lelin,
Myself I don´t care much for McDonalds as their Food does not agree with me much which is probably why they won´t find me there in the first place.
I have at Hamburgers but they are from Burger King which I suppose is only the same as the other.
Also I don´t care for their Dressings as you can buy them yourself now and they also taste a bit better not that I am into that much either.
Sometimes I get them in for if I am going to do Chicken and for these lot here to have a different taste from the norm.
Actually these lot in my House eat my Hamburgers that I make but I don´t make them that often either depends on the mood I am in really.xxx
Think that extra charges are uncalled for I was shopping in a very expensive place the other week as nowhere else was open and they did not charge for the shopping bags I thought it would be a bit of a cheek if they did.xxx

yes I regularly eat there since I know that they serve a clean and quality product, and its true if you want some extra dressing you must add also some extra amount of money to spend, its fair actually..

Most of the people dont mind paying for these things that why they continue doing this. But here in our country, kfc does not charge you if you ask for extra gravy. Some fastfood charge you extra for the mere extra gravy for you chicken. They really earn a lot from that computed in a year, it would be millions.

I used to love them, but lately, they're just off their system. It seems that nobody is double checking their quality anymore.
Just over a month ago, my family and I attended the Dawn Mass for Christmas and went there to eat. We always do that every year after attending these services. People would always pour in (because the Service ends at the same time in all Churches) and most would buy the same thing - pancakes. Well, that time, we were told that they didn't have butter. I said that they should cut-off prices because butter is essential at the same time it means that they're not giving me the complete meal so they should give a discount, but they refused.
Whew! I didn't order pancakes but my Aunt did. They gave her hot pancakes in styro-foam and the styrofoam bloated because of the heat! We demanded to talk to the manager because that is illegal in my city (using styrofoams for hot food). The manager didn't face us but sent the assistant to tell us that they appreciate our concern and will be taking it up in their next meeting.
They're just lucky we just came from church and it was still very early in the morning and we let the issue go because we had to be home because we still needed to go to work.
Whew!
Have a great MyLot experience ahead!

I have never cared for their hamburgers. of course my grandson is crazy about them. i do like their breakfast biscuits but i very seldom go out to eat anywhere. I didn't know they charged for condiments. i think that's pretty tacky.

I used to be McDonald fan years ago.I really like the big mac burger so much but I don't have it frequently. It just once in a while. Now I don't like to eat any foods from Mcdonalds except their sundae ice-cream. That is the only thing I always have whenever we get to Mcdonalds. I found it is extra expensive to have just a burger while I can make the food less than that price by myself. I knew about the extra charges and for them as long as it is not in a menu anything we asked for extra we need to pay for it.

Hi lelin,
Yes I have eaten many times at McDonalds. It's very common in our place where people especially kids loves to eat there. In our town there are only few restaurants and fast food. So it's people's choice when they want to eat snacks or something. But going to Malls we'll have a lot of other options.
I am also aware of the extra charges they have. I remember when I was in HS they don't charge extra money if you ask them extra stuff.
