When you come to think about it, many people just can't afford to retire right now. Fully depends on social security fund just not gonna be enough. When you come to think about all the cost you have to pay daily, you might think that, retirement now won't be such a joy. At least, you have to continue to work as part time. Consider the rising cost of insurance for your car and property. Also, the cost of medicaid, those are heavy burden on your shoulder until the day of your death. So, Many people just couldn't afford to retire yet, even though they reach the age of 65.

Yes, indeed, I'm noticing that. I mean, there are many people who do reach retirement age and end up getting a part time job anyway, because it is going to drive them insane. But some people hang on for a few more years, because they just won't be able to be able to survive. Retirement benefits does not really cover the cost of living.
It is getting to the point where you only may fully retire when you go in the coffin. You think that you are out but there have been many people who look and realize that things are not what they really seem to say the very least. Everything is going up in the world and it is a rather frustrating time. Seniors will never retire, at least not fully. They'll be part time at least, depending on how smart they were at saving their money.

Personally it is Sad what they charge now for everything. Especially when it comes to Food, medications, etc. to where you almost have no choice but to continue to have to work or have ways for other means of income. And then those of us in the Baby Boomer yrs. who says there will even be Social Security for us? I know right now with all my Health issues my Medical I have where I work is way better than what Medicare provides so it makes it a definate reason to work. It is a shame what is happening and wish there was an easier solution for all.

That is very true. My husband is going to retire in 7 years and still work a few days.

Corporate america does not want people to be on social security. They either want people to die younger or work until they die. That is so that the big companies can continue making millions and billions of dollars. They do not care the the little guy at all.

We all work to earn money.Because money is definitely important for us.Everyone wants to have a better life. And also everyone has the right to live better of course. But in my country people are alittle bit workaholic.Eventhough they are rich enough they never think about retirement. They like money a lot.According to me it should be totally different. If you have a good life and enough money when the time comes you should get retired. So anyone should think that once more: Do we live to earn money or earn to live? ....

This happens here in our country.
However, they are forced to retire, only selected ones can continue working after reaching 65 (not everyone is given the opportunity no matter how they want)
This is very sad, while life span becomes shorter- how could they enjoy their old age then... :(

Economic hard times and a bleak future prediction is keeping people at work even though they deserve a well earned rest after years of work responsibilities. The sad part is that the younger generation is not getting employment because of this. Who will employ a novice when they are getting an experienced hand at the same cost? This whole thing is a little bit shortsighted because, even if you find experience in the older generation, it is hard to find the physical ability to perform. The work efficiency takes a beating.Let us hope things take a turn for the better in the future.

I think that is just one side of the point. Some people do can not afford to support themselves depending on the retirement pension, but some people have enough money to lead a relatively good life but they cannot bear the bored life style once they are out of their profession so we can often find the children trying hard to introduce their parents to do other significant things to enrich their life. And some people want to earn as much money as possible because of their sense of insecure.
