Hi Lifes,
Actually, you'd get really unhappy at my place. I do have a tv but I rarely ever even turn it on. Sometimes I'll put it on to listen to the news or if the grandkids are here but mostly it is off. I do agree that it is important to have in case you want to watch a movie or something but I don't put it up there with friends. Anyway, I think more people would probably agree with you. Welcome to mylot!

Hi Life,
I make incense burners and sell them, I read, I get on here and I try to make time for my friends. I also work full time on 2nd shift and babysit on the 3 nights that I have off. I usually have music on rather than tv. I don't get bored very often. I also have 4 daughters, 3 of which are grown and one who is 17 and still at home. My 25 yr old doesn't drive so I am often running her around to do her errands.

Television certainly has a place in our lives and is a useful tool for information and entertainment and for giving us a perspective on the world. I particularly like travel programmes where I can visit other countries from my armchair and see how they live their lives.
My family has always had a television it seems but one of my pet hates is when a television is on in a room and people are talking to each other and nobody is watching it. Why not just switch it off?

I agree with you but the way we use our televisions is changing. Their original single use of transmitting a programme is changing and more and more interactive services are being added. The televsion will ultimately morph into a computer methinks.

My husband and I lived without a tv for 4 years and we didn't miss it, because we had two laptops with an internet connections and we were able to watch news, documentaries and movies online. Last year my parents got a new tv and they asked us if we wanted their old tv. We thought about that and decided to accept the tv that they offered us. So we have a tv now, but we really don't use it much. We watch tv between 2 or 4 hours a week and the rest of the time the tv is switched off. We spend many hours online, so in our home the laptops are more important than the tv.

I don't really watch TV. Maybe 1 hour a week. I work, I read, I clean, I shop, I do little projects around the house (and outside of the house!) but I don't really watch TV. There was a period of time in 5 months that I didn't watch one single episode of ANYTHING on TV. It wasn't all that bad either!

Well i think a lot of people cant live without a tv.
Its just something almost everyone has and wants to have. Besides its always fun to watch television with the whole family.
I also need a tv, cuz i play games a lot.
Its just electronic arts are becoming normal in our lives if you watch the older days.
