Youtube is full of potential. The great thing about it, is we have the power to find what we want there. We have actually used Youtube for more than just watching videos. We have used Youtube to learn how to "Groom a Shanauzer,"Fix a Leaky Faucet," and even get through certain levels of a video game. I know that's cheating but there were just some levels that were flat out hard.
My daughter even told me that she watched some videos on there of childbirth so she would know what to expect...Childbirth?!?! I would have died before I posted the birth of my children on there, but to each his own I guess.
So what are you using youtube for?
Have you learned something new from there? Used an educational video?
Do you just like the music aspect or is there more there for you?

I use youtube mostly to watch entertainment videos as well as educational videos. I watch fights on there. The different type of moves to bring down an opponent. I also watch robbery and see how the store owners managed to defend their selves. I watch how to pass levels on various games. I learn tricks about different devices I own. But most of all I think I use it to watch car videos. I use it to watch how to drive a manual car even though I already know how to, but because I am so much in love with those types of car. I still watch educational videos on them. How to drift a car is something else I might watch and I believe there is a lot more. I especially like to watch videos about lamborghinis and such. Those stuff are amazing. I know I left out a lot but its because I am about to leave my house now on a hurry. Maybe when I come back I add some more things, with details and such. By the way, its been a long time I haven't heard from you JenInTN.

There are some great self defense videos on there and I think it's really neat that there are manual transmission tutorials too. I have never seen any of those. I will have to see one of those "drifting" videos...LOL...I might have to try a little of that. Youtube might make the roads around here a little dangerous for a while.
I do hope you come back...I haven't seen any discussion since the one you started about purpose..I liked that one.
Thanks for sharing and I look forward to you coming back if you think of something to add.

I actually watch my b/f's music videos to support him. I went on the Black Ops and learned how to use my hacker pro one the game too. Now that I think about it, I think it was a kid talking throughout it. I have been on there watching various things...mainly out of curiousity. Once I searched some ghost proof videos..some were a joke but there were some that made me go Hmmmm. I watched some exorcism footage and again..some were obviously bull but there were some.....
I like some comedy too. My daughter just showed me one that was pretty funny...here...

You know I am just a kid trying to have fun. One thing I always wanted to do concerning youtube was to make some cash concerning their partnership program. The problem I am having though is that first of all I dont have a camera to record anything, and second of all, I don't even know what I would have done with that camera to entertain people. Based off what I have heard, there are a lot of people I have heard make a lot of cash off youtube. Even a little boy that show walk through for call of duty (a game). He made his self enough around 150 thousand us dollars, he bought his self a good looking car. Actually a great looking car, and he put down the rest until he is ready to attend college. Well that is what he said. I wish I could find that video but I have been searching for a while and cant locate it any more.
What about you though. Give me a link to one of your best videos on youtube or something? I want to see what really entertain you.

I use to watch episode of a tv show here in the netherlands, sometimes I will watch music videos or a walkthrough for a game. I know it is 'cheating', but who cares ;p The developers must not habe made the level hard to complete. It's simple as that.

I only visit Youtube sometimes. I use youtube when I search a music video of a certain song or their lyrics because I don't want just to hear the music but to see their music video as well. I also visit youtube when I want to entertain myself with funny videos there.

I'm so glad you created this discussion Jen because you made me think of something I've forgotten. I use youtube for music and education videos. In research I've found videos that tell me something quickly in a more personalized way and then I read in more detail. It words well on subjects have no or little knowledge on.
For music, I love how people put songs together and it will give a different image of what particular music is about.
This makes me think that I've not contributed much nor used this the potential videos have which is something I might consider exploring now. I am not at all sure about the networking value, that is the comments.
Does anyone have any experience in that area. The community part of youtube?

I appreciate the responses, I think, for me, I am interested in the people aspect more than the money part though that is certainly an interest too.
Maybe I'll go into the peanut business and promote it.
I like meeting new people and do appreciate you guys.

I love You Tube passionately. Of course I go there for the music videos; but also, movies, programmes, TV and film clips, documentaries, interviews, and so much more besides. There is truly an incredible wealth of information at You Tube. I've even uploaded some of my own simply recorded songs (plus images) there:

Jen, My pleasure, thank you for the kind compliments about my voice, I'm so glad you like it. I don't do shows right now, but I want to; nor do I play with a group, but that's also a possibility. Thanks again!

Wow...that is very impressive. You have a great voice! Do you do shows? Do you play with a group?
I think that you tube gives people the chance to share their talent to the corners of the earth..where they might not have ever been able to before.
I can't do it unless I figure out something to be instructional about..lol...I might upload something one day but I can promise it won't be musical or child birthing
Thanks so much for sharing your talent!

I've heard from a lot of my friends that they use YouTube also for business purposes. Currently, I'm just using it to watch videos. Well, actually, my 8-year-old son does the watching. But I am exploring the possibilities of incorporating YouTube in one of my money-making ventures :)

I have an account there where I have uploaded several of my videos mostly for public viewing. They are about my garden, pets, my poetry and get togethers of classmates and orphans. You tube has invited me to partner them but I have so far not earned anything.
I do watch videos there but there is no set pattern. Childbirth!!!? Now how did I miss it?

Before, I mainly use it for entertaining myself.. But lately, I find myself using it more for it's educational videos. We can learn so many things from YouTube! From repairing simple problems with electronic gadgets to learning how to play musical pieces!

You tube is full of good videos that related to education, news, music, concert, events etc. There are also many stupids persons who just to make fun posted useless videos. It is on a perspn how he utilizes thw youtibe. If in good way, it will benifit you and if doesn't it let you down and time waste.
I mainly use youtube for watching tutorials and few of the old music videos the evergreen classic. There are many comedy show thus help me get entertained as well.

I use youtube to listen to music or certain songs or to see a video of someone singing such as a young child with great potential or maybe a funny video of some animal being silly. Can't say that I've learned anything from there but I guess I could....?

Where have I been? Well, a number of things happened to cause me to disappear. First a misunderstanding here on mylot which is cleared up for the most part but still, it's made me very leary. On the net, people can take what one says the wrong way SO easily which is what happened to me. Then my dad had another heart attack and was in the hospital for three weeks but he had SO much against him that the doctors couldn't do anything for him so in the end, we brought him home to die 'on the mountain' just as he wanted. He lasted about 14 hours before he passed away, November 26. Since then, I've been spending a lot of time with mom before going home but I'm now back at mom's because she fell and broke a rib or two thus in a lot of pain. I'll be here until someone relieves me or she gets to feeling better. Good enough excuse to be gone for so long? LOL

Oh yes...there are a ton of instructional videos on there. If you ever need some visual instruction..just type it in there. You will find a ton of stuff..lol.
I love funny videos and children...yes..that too. Animals are a hoot on there and I have thought of even posting some videos of my silly dogs before.
It's great to see you. Where in the world have you been hiding yourself?
Thanks for the response!

I am a Youtube Partner and well I upload videos at least several times a week making sure that they are all able to be monetized so that I can make money from them. I have been doing pretty good.
I have enjoyed the experience of getting my voice out their and people seem to enjoy most of my videos in that I get a good number of views as well as good number of likes.
So I use youtube as another way to present information which is mostly just my opinion backed up with some facts so that people can if they want debate me on the issues.

Well I am not really sure how you go about getting into it as they messaged me and said that I had been accepted into the program due to my channel reaching enough viewers. I was at about 1000 views at this time so I am guessing that they want you to hit a certain number of views before they let you into the program. I have been doing this for awhile. It doesn't pay all that well until you get a lot of viewers but it does pay for some fun money.
My youtube channel is at www.youtube.com/jeffgeigercr it is my political commentary and well it is something that I have a lot of fun doing.
It makes Youtube a lot more interesting and something that you want to spend some time on with making your videos so that they are of a high enough quality that people like them.

You have several on there. I was interested in some of the video game creator videos too. I thought they had a lot of info in them about things people don't really realize is involved.
Thanks for sharing them and I'll check in on you there from time to time too.

I love listening to music on YouTube. I also like the funny cat videos. I have recently found that a person can sign up for classes via the YouTube. I had a previous discussion with the link to the actual YouTube. It was pretty interesting. Yes, YouTube has a lot of potential.

I use it mostly to listen to music. Sometimes I remember a song from a long time ago and then listen to other songs by the same artist.
But I have a faucet that's leaking and maybe I'll see what to do to fix it. Thanks for the tip.

Yes, it doesn't look so hard once you visually see what to do. The only problem with mine is the valve to close the water is not in my apartment. I'll have to talk to my landlord about it.

It's on there my friend. I live in kind of an older house and the faucets in the bathroom are kinda older. We searched through a few videos until we came to the one that most resembled our faucet and Walahhh...now my faucets are tight as can be. There was a washer packet that only cost about $2 at the hardware store and of course the video showed what to get and how to get the faucet off safely..then it also showed how to place the washers and put the things back together! Saved us a ton of money. I don't even know what a plumber might have charged.

I use youtube to watch some video clip, music, concert, story, recipes and also design tutorials about 'How to' and many more. Basically I use it to watch tutorials videos. It is just fun but also worth to watch. I don't have to buy videos I just need to watch them from youtube, so it saved some money as well. Learn how to play some video game levels?? I don't know about it but I am sure we can watch any videos from youtube. It just up to choose whether to use for good or bad activity.(^^)

Yes...I am guilty. I just could not figure out how to use this certain perk I had gotten and I resorted to a 5 year old youtube showing me how
I like the tutorials too. I have had an instructor or two actually assign stuff to watch on youtube. The instructor in the music appreciation class I took used it ALOT..lol.
Thanks for responding.
