I have had appx. 9 hours of sleep in the past 4 days. I dont know why i cant sleep. I dont know if its because I miss my son and want to spend more time with him during the day (i work at night). or if its because i have been in pain with an abcessed tooth and ear infection. I took my script of lortab 7.5 and antibiotics and the tabs make me very sleepy but i cant seem to sleep. I am a little frustrated because now I am tired all the time.

ive worked the night shift for 9 years and never had a problem before, just recently have i had a problem. i think alot of it has to do with pain but i also think it is guilt of not spending enough time with my son. i was seeing him breifly in the day then briefly at night while i would be getting ready for work. i would go to bed during the day, hear his crying or his laughing and want to get up and spend some very valuable time with him. He is growing up so fast and i dont want to miss valuable time.

Dear friend, you must know that there are nights when even I, without a logical explanation, I can not get to sleep before 5 PM.
Fortunately, this happens only rarely.
Luckily when I do not have physical pain (the fact that you have them, I'm really sorry for you).
I should also add that I all the afternoon, at 14.00 around on the bed I lie down and sleep again about an hour or two.

it is rough when i cant sleep. especially if i have to work that night. i was so exhausted tonight that i called my work and arranged someone to work for me tonight and i will work their shift and mine tomorrow resulting in me working a double. but look at me now...up at 6:15 am and havent sleep a bit last night. i have to go into work at 2:30 pm and work until 6:30 am tomorrow morning. i am going to be beat. i get my tooth pulled on monday (thanks to financial help from my mom) as for my ear infection, i may need another round of antibiotics because ive only got a day left and my ear still hurts to the point of bringing tears to my ears. it makes sleep hard, playing with my son hard, and work hard to do. ugh!! lol thank goodness for mylot to occupy our time...right?

9 hours of sleep from past four days that is quite less alexjordan1231. A tooth ache or ear infection is quite a reasonable explanation for your insomnia as they are quite dreadful and can take away all your sleep and if that is the case then i will say that you should see a doctor. You say that it can be because you miss your son and want to spend more time with him, well that is something psychological that is at the back of your mind because you just have to sleep for 6 hours at least that is necessary sleep requirement for a healthy body and mind so you should take care that you get that and then you can spend the rest of your time with your son till you go to work.
There is one more thing you can do which can help you get rid of your insomnia and your stresses and frustration which may be interrupting your sleep and i.e. Meditation
Yes meditation can resolve almost all of your problems then you can start afresh.
You will see the change on your own once you start practicing it.It is very healthy and very soothing process for your body and for your mind and i am sure that after doing it you surely have a blissful sleep.

too much to get sleep, try to ignore your need and thinking of sleeping, because in this way sleep will not join you, try to spend your tmie doing something you like, then you will get tired and sleep, i would say take hot bath or drink milk because they say it helps in sleeping, but it doesnt and im sure you did try them anyway, so try reading , chatting here and earn money or write . hope it will work for you

We all have those days/nights when we simply cannot fall asleep.
But, from what you have stated, it is probably due to stress and pain.
There's not much I can tell you to do, except to take a nice hot bath, drink a glass of warm milk and read a few chapters of a good book before bed.
It none works, you should seek for a doctor.
