i trow this question out for you to participate. i goes that is it possible you divorce your lover after you have been legally joined together in the church or according to your tradition, does GOD allow such to happen? 'cos it is written in the scripture not to divorce your partner even in the time of danger and no matter the circumstances.

Well in Islam there are many rules and regulations relating marriage.
Firstly it prohibits divorce, because God wants the man and woman to work things out and fix the marriage, no matter what. Firstly because not only the man and woman might be affected the whole family gets affected with divorce and then the society and then the world at large. If they have kids they get separated, emotionally it effects them. If not then still the woman is face with difficulty, the man might not take the second marriage so seriously, etc etc.
But if the woman is facing with difficulty of staying with her husband because he is not being a good husband then she has the right to get divorced.
Same goes for the man, but the case should be extreme.
For example: The husband is physically abusing her, not giving her basic needs.
And for the wife, she is cheating on him or she is not carrying her responsibility.
But whatever the case is in Islam, 3 months reconciliation period is given, where both husband and wife can sit and discuss but thats only when a woman wants to divorce. In islam its easy for man to take divorce all he has to say 3 times "I divorce you" and they are divorced!!..
If you want to know more, I would love to share :)..
But in any religion and all religions, God says to work on the marriage, divorce is the last resort when things are really gone out of hand!

I just want to share, in my country Indonesia (I am pretty sure many other places too) there are lots of married couples who not live harmonically, like lots of wifes got beaten, tortured (physically and emotionally), etc! Think about if God really prohibited divorcing, How many womans will suffers?

I can't tell you more about the marriage laws according to Islam, because there are sooo many to learn, but like some other muslem here said, divorce is the last option, but we can still do that, after meeting some circumstances in our laws.
