What would look good with brown boots?

I just got a new pair of boots. They're dark brown and suede, mid calf. To model is Honeypup by Rocked Dog, if you want more information.
I want to know what top and bottoms would look good with them? Like, what color tops and pants? Could I wear black leggings with them? I heard black doesn't look good with brown, but I don't get it.
Would they look good with brown/grey/navy leggings? Or dark wash jeans?
What I'm having most trouble with are tops though.

Black goes with everything.whenever i am in a fix i rely on BLACK.i think all the shades of leggings you mentioned the black and brown both and the dark jeans will go great and as per tops you can choose it for light cream,off white, beige, brown, black.

Thank you! I normally always rely on black as well, but I don't usually wear brown, hence my doubt.

Those brown boots would look good with most anything. As far as tops go, I would go with maybe the tans or whites. You could do color like teal and pink too. I think that with jeans...it wouldn't much matter what wash they were. If you really felt uncomfortable, you could pull it together with a purse or bag that was the color of your boots.
