Would you ever consider this?

I have heard some people talk about making money and only cashing their money out to hide it in their homes in very innovative ways rather than deal with banks or have to pay large amounts of taxes in any country on the little bit of money they do have. Now with places like paypal sending your financial records to your country's tax revenue place so you can't 'cheat' the system. Any money you make online is reported and you have to either pay it, they will get auto-deducted from the company, or if you don't pay you get in trouble. Is anyone considering finding ways to keep all of their earnings to themselves? Disclaimer: I do not condone cheating on taxes and have never cheated on my taxes. This is more or less asking how people feel about even being taxed with their online work.

Hi AidaLilly and welcome to my lot. I have been working online for years and never been taxed on the little money I earn. The main site I play and work on is my lot. So I don't make enough money on here to be taxed on it......LOL I will leave the money I make in the bank it is disability and SSI so I don't have taxes to pay on the little check I get. If I was you I wouldn't worry about it and let the little money you will make from this site sit till you need it.

I only work online on my lot I am a retired disabled carpenter and just plain don't have the time to do more then my lot. I wish I had more time to make a few extra dollars to help pay the bills but owning a home takes time so my time has to go to my home.

There is really no foolproof way with cheating your taxes. The government has their ways of finding these things out. And that is not with the lack of trying from some people. Of course, if you've thought about it, chances are the tax place has thought of it as well. They have to think of these things after all, if they showed any kind of competence. I think that they're not going to go as hard after the small fish as they are going to go after the people who cheat them out of a lot of money. They might smack you rather hard on the wrist, but the government will go after people who cheat them out of a lot more and they have figured out all of the ways. Then again, one could argue that the government are the real cheats, pocketing a lot of that money on the side, instead of using it for its intended purpose, but that is another debate for another time.

And I never really did think about it. For the simple fact is I can never be as diabolical and devious as the government in this country is. Perhaps someday, but I doubt that day is coming. I wouldn't be surprised if they had a government agent watching our every move using some kind of invisible technology standing right outside my window right now. :)

I probably wouldn't be surprised either. I want to eventually be an accountant so I will never cheat on my taxes, but people are getting so frustrated with the way things are going that they are resorting to things such as this. Lol. Yeah crooked politicians pocketing all the money on the side is definitely another debate. I just don't understand why people would want to A.) cheat on their taxes and B.) Seriously, this is not our great great grandparents time where it might of been safe to hide your money in your house. Why on earth do these people want to do that?

Its common knowledge that more than 2 Trillion dollars is owed to the US Government in unpaid taxes, mostly in undeclared income. Everybody knows America is broke, and going broker. Do you really enjoy living in a country that is going down the tubes? This once great Country is suffering from the greed of its leaders, as well the greed of those who hide their income. Please realize that all Americans must bite the bullet if America is to survive!

Oh I realize it. I believe that people who make more money should have to pay more taxes than people who make maybe $20,000 a year or the people who make loads of money should have to pay the same percentage of taxes as lower and middle income families and not have tax breaks for donating to charity or anything. I will never cheat on my taxes. It is just alarming to know that there are a lot of people who want to even if they don't realize it is completely wrong in what they are doing or since they don't realize they could potentially be hurting the economy by hoarding money in their house. Not to mention if it catches on fire, gets stolen, or anything like that.

My Country already charges too much and too high taxes. I pay 27,5% on everything i earn .. and still i get paid the taxes embedded in everything i buy. I find it strange that the government also wants to tax the paypal'balance. The balance is not always " income". paypal balance may be just a way to pay on line.

They want taxes on the money you make. I don't know if they are doing it in your country, but this is basically for the people who work hourly freelance jobs or do a lot of fixed freelance jobs and pay no taxes. Some people make good freelance money and don't report it. This is NOT if you use it to just buy something online a few times or even put money into your paypal to pay a bill. This is for people who don't report when they have actual jobs online. Most people pay taxes on money for any job they have, and freelancers who work hourly try to get around that since its online thats all.

Pay pal earnings will be reported to the user's addressee. Online earners from the Philippines using pay pal will have their earnings reported to the Philippine government for taxation purposes. Did I understand you right? I will have no objection on this setup if the government takes a share in the upkeep of the computer and the footing of the monthly internet bills.

To cite an example. We are working with MyLot, if we earn and reach a certain amount that is deductible, it will be MyLot's responsibility to deduct the amount from our earnings for tax purposes. Is that what you mean, AidaLily?

Basically, it is supposed to be anyone you work for like for your freelance work which will in fact have to pay taxes on what they are paying you causing a drop in earnings. I know some companies will probably just send their employee's information and if that employee makes above the legal amount for the year of tax free money then they will owe taxes on whatever they make.

Hi Taxes are part of our lives so we have to used in these.Of course most of people find this no very pleasant. In my opinion keeping large amounts in home is risky not only in case of theft but also in case of some accident for ex. fire so it is better to keep small amounts at home for emergency reasons and to keep the rest at banks.

I agree. Keeping a little at home for emergencies is the best. Otherwise if something happens and your money is gone then you are out of luck and now have to find another way to make money.

But if you cash out from paypal to your bank account, for example, every time you reach 250 dollars or 250 dollars every time; you don't have to pay taxes I think, this is too small amount of money for paying taxes. so you don't have to cheat the system, and still get it on.

I believe it when you are actually making money like if you get an hourly position on a freelance site and they pay you in there. If you put the money in yourself then they pay no attention to it since you most likely already paid taxes on it. I believe it is so employers that have to report either how much they are paying you and pay the taxes or tell them and you have to pay it if you make over the legal amount of tax free dollars.

Keeping large amounts of cash in your home is a bad idea for several reasons. First is inflation. Money sitting in a jar looses it's value to inflation. At least in a bank, you do get a return. In addition, if one learns how to invest properly, one can make money. Next, there is the issue of fire. Though your cash might not be stored in a flamable container, house fires can rage really hot. Your money could burn up inside your container. Then there is the problem of theft. Word gets out you are holding cash and you might have some unwanted guests. Finally saving taxes, no one likes to pay taxes. On the other hand, governments need money to operate. They will get the money they need somehow. If you cheat on your taxes now, they will just figure out other ways to get it. It's easier to just pay your taxes than having to watch over your shoulder for them coming to get you. There are honest ways to make tax free money--Roth Iras and municipal bonds.

Agreed. I was just wondering why so many people are turning to solutions like that. I mean I guess I understand the need to save and so on with some banks still trying to figure out a way to make more profit, but its a little alarming when so many people want to keep it in their house. A good reputable bank usually insures up to $100,000 and some even up to $250,000. With the two things you mentioned and more, its better to just to pay taxes and not keep it in your house. For people not opening Roth IRAs or wanting municipal bonds, as long as they vote in the 'right' people they can rest assured their taxes will go down the more money they have.

You are talking of online work only, i don't do any online work, my income from mylot is 10$ in 3 to 4 months, i am not much active here, this money goes to my bank account, the bank takes care of the taxation, it deducts at source if income is more as per income tax guidelines Thank you so much for sharing Happy posting, cheers. AidaLily .....I would be grateful to have made enough to pay taxes and would pay them. I can understand keeping cash at home for emergencies, but I don't think keeping a large amount is wise.

So would I. I don't agree with keeping large amounts in the home either. I have just read more articles lately on people wanting ways to keep cash in the house and hide it from burglars.
