Gluttony, pride, anger, sloth, greed, envy, and lust. I was watching this documentary about them again today and I wondered how many of these we can honestly be guilty of. I, myself, can be guilty of gluttony, pride, anger and lust. How about you? Maybe the rest too if I really went deep.

Hi celticeagle, Being truly honest with myself, I'd say the deadly sins that I would most commit are pride and anger. Now and again greed and lust. I don't like to envy people so I don't. Oh I was a bit of a glutton over the Christmas period so I guess that'd count too! I'm not much of a sloth as in a lazy person but have the odd 'lazy' day here and there - who doesn't?! Actually, Se7en is one of my favourite movies. IrishGal77 :)

I like my sins in moderation. I've been guilty of all of these at least at some occasion in my life. It's life.

Truly so. Religion is so petty don't you think?

Maybe not all religion, but yes, eternal damnation seems kinda harsh for the use of granted free will.

I think from time to time I am guilty of all of them. They are deadly if you let them take over your life. I know I am slothful, that is lazy, and I know lots of people I envy.

In all honesty, I have been guilty of all of them also at some point or another. You are right about not letting them take over your life - that is the key.

I t hink at one time or another, I've hit them all. Envy to me isn't as bad as jealousy, that's taking it to another level. Lust is a hard one to not have. If you've got any hormones at all.

in the past i think i have been guilty of all 7, we all have our traits, but i am not a bad person, we all have different emotions and no one is perfect, i think the majority of people have actually had all 7 of these sins...if they haven't then hmmmmmmmm, they must be the perfect people, and in my books, no one is perfect

All against words of God is a sin. If sin is committed there is a punishment wait.

hi celticEagle oh d ear you made me think shame on you lol lol I am sure that at one time or another I have been guilty of some may be all otg them. being human but lust I don't think I have gone that route in many many years. I had a wonderful hubby so never needed to lust after anyone else. now in older age thats not my problem. sloth envy and anger.Oh I get very angry when I see someone mistreating another person.I sometimes envy those who seem never to have a single problem but I do not let myself dwell on that at all. I think gluttony at times I have been guilty but pride no,I am not a proud person, shy, overweight, nearsighted what the heck have I got to be proud of? Old age? we all grow old. lol lol

They can be very easy to fall into for sure. I am thinking that most things are ok in moderation so there might be certain exceptions under moderate circumstances. Gluttony...a huge meal where I eat until I can barely move...not always but on occasion when it is so good. Pride...I don't ask for anything because I feel like I am imposing..I would do without first Anger...I have been so mad with things I have been faced with I could bite a nail in two. I try not to stay that way though. Lust...I have seen some very very attractive men Sloth...I work so much that when I am off...sometimes I don't want to do a thing..I don't think that applies though. Envy..not really been much of an issue for me but I also think we have all had moments. Greed..I can be selfish about some things but not with the people I love or the ones that are in need and I can help. I thought vanity was in there too but that would be 8...hmm...maybe that goes along with the pride.

Moderation is the key. Sounds like you are a normal human. I think pride and vanity fall under the same category.

celtic, we are all guilty of all of these to some extent. We are human and have our failings. That is life. It is how much and how long we indulge in any of these that that gets us the "sinner" tag of classical religion. And then there is this changing public morality. The values I was brought up with are "prude" now. What is utterly sinful to me is "cool" for the generation next. The next edition of the scripture or the next prophecy may as well have less than these seven sins, who knows?

hahaha funny to think and upon reading these. we actually probably committed any of these only is that we don't acknowledge much the fact. Sorry dear God for everything.

Hi celticeagle! I agree with most of the people here that at some point in our lives we have committed these sins. I myself am guilty of all of them. But the one that I more often commit are gluttony and sloth. You know what, your post is timely. I am about to use this topic in my class tomorrow. We are going to read the Pardoner's Tale of The Canterbury Tales and the message of the tale is that the love for money is the root of all evil.

I think that if people are honest with themselves they have each committed all at some point.

I think everyone in some or the other way falls into all of these categories in some way or the other. Some times the consequences brings them into such category or its their personality. I think I did fall into envy category. I use to envy my brother since i was a little kid because I was always compared by him.. The rest of the sins I have fallen into, and I hope so I never do.. Can you tell me the name of the documentary? God Bless!

I have been guilty for all of them but what sin I feel guilty the most is pride. I do have too much pride sometimes that it can already bring other people down and even my own self down. Anyway, I am working how to handle this now. :)

Every person on earth has at least one of these negative qualities otherwise he would become a saint. There are thousands of so called holy persons in the world who have nearly all of these bad qualities and they just fool people by wearing the garb of a monk.Yes, even i have a couple of these negative qualities, though i will not reveal which. To attain total purity one has to do deep penance and spiritual practices because it is ver easy to have bad qualities but very difficult to wean them away.
